3m film with perforated backing, mat finishes are less stretchy and chrome finishes even less stretch. its not super hard to wrap just buy way more wrap than you need, you will f*ck up the first few panels. aslo start with the curviest part of any panel and a heat gun is your friend.

All I can say is good luck. I did the "anti glare" scoop wrap. That's just a ~24" square, already pre cut and everything. Should have been easy as pie, I already did the wheels and that was easy, a small vinyl square should have been cake. I had to order it twice because I screwed up and creased it the first time. :anonymous: And even though I got it down the second time, it still isnt perfectly centered. :anonymous::anonymous:

Im definitely payin somebody next time.

Gotta say as someone who dabbles in vinyl as a side gig, I hate precut pieces for car parts. Always come out crooked unless you are SUPER anal about it.

I'd much rather apply 1.5x the vinyl footage and use an olfa knife to trim my way to victory on something like a hood scoop.

Yeah, Agreed Cause if im wrapping something like the hood i just have to precut a piece a bit bigger than what it is and just go to town but if you're doing precuts then its like almost impossible to be perfect on them ! haha speaking of which. What would you recommend for squeegees and knifes and all that stuff to do the vinyl ?

Olfa knife is what was recommended to me by a clearbra shop a while back and I love them.

Squeegees, I mainly do little stuff so i have a 3 or 4 inch one with felt on one side and plastic on the other. It's blue and fairly common, but the brand name escapes me.

A dental pick is also really handy if a corner gets folded over.

One thing that hasn’t been covered in this thread is prep. I’ve also been looking into wrapping my truck because it’s super white and I’ve heard stories about paint flaking and I want to protect it as much as I can. The prep work will be way more important than the finesse and skill of putting on the wrap. If you aren’t going to do a complete detail on your paint work before you start wrapping you might as well have thrown your money in the trash. Get all the swirls and knicks out of the paint because they will show up underneath the wrap as bumps creases and wrinkles. Also if you don’t have a garage to do the wrapping in and you’re doing it outside you can kiss the thought of a perfect wrap job goodbye.

Oh yeah most definitely, the company I work for is going to let me do the wrap inside our photo booth area when we I decide to do it and that place is kept clean as clean gets! But yeah definitely going to do a fine detail on the car piece by piece as well to make sure all the parts are clean one by one as I wrap it as well to double over the individual panels and make sure its shiny as can be

Looks decent. It amazes me how cheap those kits can get.

Michaels has a lot of vinyl stuff if you break something, etc.

My truck is super white too lol. Open up my doors and it’s real obvious haha.

Prep is definitely key. I spent the first day and a half detailing the truck. Clay bar and then alcohol wipe off just before the panel went on.
