    This is a edit!!!! I will not remove what I wrote. Only I want to add I was absolutely wrong. Ovtune sent the tune files 3 times. Somehow they were lost in Gmail. I logged out and logged back in, and 124 emails all showed up at once. The problem was on my end. I have apologized to them, I want to apologize to you all as well.


    Well it has been 11 days since I paid OVtune for the 04B14 ecu tunes. I have written them every day. I got one response to follow the instructions on a linked page. Followed the instructions, it took the 4 extra credits I paid for, but still no tunes. I have no idea what is going on. The software is awesome. It is amazing. It is wonderful. IF you have a problem, it seems like screw you dude. I am pretty pissed off at the whole deal now. I am over 800 dollars in, hours and hours of time, and I have a stock tune on my truck.

    I attempted to follow the instructions Rafael sent me. It took the four credits but it has not allowed me to use the files. It has been 11 days since I paid for it. I have paid for everything. I have been nothing but helpful and even have a thread helping others to use and install VF tune on Tacoma World. You have both posted in it. I am at this point beyond frustrated and beginning to feel like you guys do not care at all. I have written to you everyday. I have received one response. That response was followed to the T and all that happened was my credits were taken with absolutely no tune files returned. I do not feel like I am being unreasonable. All I want is what I have paid for. I am at this point actually getting pretty pissed off. I do not think this is your intention. Maybe your are just really busy, maybe there is a problem you are working on, maybe something else is going on. Just tell me something. If you want me to go screw off and say ha ha we got your money, just tell me.

    This is just crazy.

    Well, you seemed jovial in some other threads recently, and happy with the tune initially. Had you not decided to repeatedly reprogram the computer running your truck would you still recommend? Where do you go from here? I’m guessing the size of the company, and demand for the product (development stuff aside) likely cause delays in customer service - it’s one of my concerns’ as well. GL

Lol if they don’t make it right you don’t pay. Get a grip man. “I have written you everyday”, “you post in this thread”, dude M-E-L-L-O-W.....Since your truck is stock tune now, you will be able to lock a bike to the leaf spring if necessary (pooping snacks etc.)

    So being pissed that you did not get what you paid good money for is unreasonable?

    I know if wasn't for the thread Steve started I would not have spent my money with OVTune and from reading the thread and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one. No, not a gold bar, but $800 spent is worth a response.

    Fair enough argument, “If you don’t get what you pay for” but the shit is all on electronic money. All you have to do is contest the charge, fee, debit, etc. until it is made right. I don’t know what thread you’re talking about with “Steve” or whatever but it sounds like you are good since you didn’t buy a tune right? I’m interested but skeptical as well. I don’t like the idea of messing with that kind of stuff assuming the engineers at Toyota that are messing with a profit vehicle are going to fuk up all that much....ya feel me? That said, the engine is obviously tuned weird from the factory. I know that it needs to wind up to make power, I know that it wants to run low rpms for the simulated Atkinson cycle...What I want is for it to not do that, and just run like my wife’s van does and drive without being bogged down o revving to 5k and taking off like a rocket. Expected throttle response would be a good thing.

    Hey Tim, thanks for your opinion. Its my money, my truck, and my tunes. I do appreciate you taking the time to share your opinion, but dude you are so far wrong it is not funny. Thats about as far as I am going to go with you.

    It has been paid for 11 days. This is way to long to have nothing. I really enjoyed the tune on 04B13, I bought it, knowing later I would upgrade to 04B14. I was more than willing to do that so I could help share the difference between the two. I believe this thread has helped sell quite a few VF tune kits. You dont know me at all. I have driven in to my work multiple times after midnight for my customers, I have come in Saturday and after Church on Sunday for them. I am salary and get not one extra cent for this. All I wanted from OVtune was a hey were busy, get to you when we can. You have no idea how this has been handled up to this point.

    So to boil this all down, Bless your heart.

    I wish you the best. Very frustrating to hear all this. I definitely would feel the same way you do if I were in your shoes. On the other side, if I was one of two (or three? Don't know how many guys they have) dudes managing an insanely popular product on top of other responsibilities, I'd undoubtedly be behind. I'm no business owner, I don't know their situation, their infrastructure, or how they go about sifting through their many daily emails. But I would certainly hope to see them at least acknowledge an issue even if they are unable to handle it at the moment. Based on what I've seen from them, I'd expect they'll get you taken care of.

    Understand where you're coming from, but it's pretty clear that they have a massive backlog of orders that they are trying to get out to folks to even get started on their tune, folks who also paid good money for what you were previously super happy with. Sucks that you are currently back to the stock tune, but is that really such a big deal that you need to email them every day and now start posting negatively about them? You started this thread because the others were so popular and flooded, so it seems reasonable to understand that they are getting slammed. Patience is a virtue. They have a great reputation here, and I'm sure they'll sort you out when they are able.

    The problem was in gmail. If you use gmail, try logging completely out, and then back in. I received 124 emails all at once. I was only getting emails in conversations. When VFtune sent the files it was from a different email address. He sent me a screenshot showing he sent what I did not receive.

    Again I feel like a complete jackass. They did nothing wrong. I think if I used my work email or my normal email instead of the one set up for stuff I don't want to lose it would of worked.

    TLDR.
    VfTuner did what the said, it just disappeared, until I logged out and back into gmail.





    I dont think I am being negative towards them. If I am I certainly don't mean to be. VF tune is the coolest handiest thing I have ever seen. I am pretty upset at the customer service part. I understand they are software geniuses. They need someone to handle customer service though. A simple hey we are swamped you are such and such in line would go a very long way. I don't think you understand what has happened. When it took my credits my understanding was that it should allow access to the tunes for that second ecu. As far as I can tell that is broken.

    Just wanted to keep it positive here and say thanks to OP @wrightme43 and @tonered and @Shellshock for this post and all the help offered. Yeah the VFTune guys are slammed. @wrightme43 you have a stock tuned Tacoma at the moment - a bummer for sure given the journey you've been on, and you've tasted the forbidden fruit that is a superior tune! First world problems though, can we agree? You'll get sorted out, I am sure. Customer experience has a ways to improve all around for these guys, from the triple registration exchange, to slow response times. But, I've heard back from Rafael or Mat every 24 hours or less. I paid on Monday and had my tune applied by the following Tuesday (so 8 days end to end).

    Keep it pointed down range my friends! Thanks for all the support here to show us pleebs the way of the tune!

    It kind of came across bad to me as well (calling everyday, then negative content ITT). I would imagine they are at a place where they would love to hire people for CS but perhaps that would reduce profitability of the product or create the need for a large price increase. IMO given the boutique nature of the product and small company size, I think giving them a week to sort it out and get back to you would be reasonable. I have seen numerous posts of people complaining about not getting response right away, so I have factored that into my expectations if I decide to purchase the tune kit etc...Not saying wouldn't be upset if it didn't work, but I kind of know there is the potential for minor issues and delays going in...

    Rafael replied to me this morning, with a screenshot of a email sent yesterday with the link to files I need. I can not use the screenshot. I did not get the email yesterday. It looks like it was sent to him and not me. It is nowhere to be found. At least I know they are trying.

    No they did exactly what they were supposed to do. Gmail put it somewhere. I logged completely out of Gmail and logged back in, and they have sent it three flipping times. It is not VF tune at all. They did what they were supposed to do. I feel like a jackass.

    124 new emails all just showed up, but the conversations with ovtune were updating but nothing they sent that was not a reply to a email I sent.

    I like a lot of things about Gmail, but not how it tries to "think for me". It insists on putting things into conversations and obfuscating content. I've been using email since the mid 1980s and Gmail is the only email client I've ever used where I sometimes can't find something that I know is there.
