We shall see lots of unknowns, as someone currently in HC, I can tell you this is only gonna get worse before it gets better, likely more shutdowns, more jobs lost, can't print money forever and people can't keep digging their debt hole. Yep, my 2020 is worth $1k less than what I paid if I took Carvana up on their offer, I'm seeing bare bones TRDs going for what I paid for my loaded new ones in 17 and 19, craziness.

I'd have to go back and do the math, but have had a few beers and a really good cigar soooo.

If I recall, I got around 8% off for a Silver Sky DCSB OR pretty much decked out with the surround camera (can't remember what it was called), no sunroof because of headroom and longevity, and best of all.......0% interest. Thanks to this forum and looking at the probably Covid impacts to production and the supply chain pulled the trigger since I probably would have waited a little longer months wise. Probably the strangest because it was a "no haggle deal" from a dealer I had bought from before and he worked to find one to my specs and when he did the math it was like "here is the remaining balance after down payment, divided by X number of payments, straight division, no interest".

Maybe could have beat them down more, but the whole deal was so easy and seamless, and knowing what has happened glad I did it, cause the no interest incentive ended 3 days later and has not come back.

Yea I have used carvana and vroom before and they are great. I don’t understand how they can pay so much for the vehicles but they are great to work with.

It’s about to get real interesting with new MY in the mix. Other manufacturers have an opportunity to shine if Toyota continues allowing dealers to gouge loyal customers.

It’s not Toyota specific, truck and suv demand with no supply for all brands, you can’t even get the usual discount on domestics right now, people paying close to full price on wranglers, silverados, gladiators, you name it.

that’s always been the case with supply in some markets for these trucks, when the 16s dropped people were paying MSRP, when the first pros dropped $10k markup was the norm

Fun thing happened today: Another truck came in at a separate dealer today (in a color that I decided I didn't want but forgot to tell him) and I told them about the deal I already had. I said I'd swap to them if they could work with me on the price and get me out the door about $1500 cheaper. They agreed, but turns out due to a miscommunication they didn't have what I wanted, but I did a search and found other trucks within an hour radius that met the specifications, so I texted original dealer (the one I made the deal with on Tuesday) and told them all this, so they dropped and met me at $40k OTD ($37.2k before taxes and fees). With the rebates, I'm coming in at 9.42% below MSRP. Not too shabby, I guess.

There was one guy that was rude to me as well. Said I was stupid. Didn't know what I was talking about. I don't have the heart to go back and dig out his name. I am not built that way. It was not complicated micro economics really -- product in high demand, low inventory, manufacturing freeze and a large enough population fortunately not impacted by what is going on as far as the pandemic.

I still feel awful for all of the people impacted physically and economically by this situation. Regardless of where you live or what you believe I just hope everyone stays safe. Oh, and you get the truck of your dreams.

Where are you? North East or South East? If you are in the North East, one trick is to look at Dealer Rater. Pick the top dealers in a place within driving distance. For me, I chose CT. Depending on what you are looking for -- and how flexible you can be -- you will generally find something in the North East (CT, northern NY, maybe NJ) because while Tacomas sell here we are no where the market the folks in the West are. Worth a shot. Good luck.

Right?! Shouldn’t people that got a once in a lifetime deal stop bashing people trying to purchase a dream car? I really don’t understand the logic. Either advise buyers or enjoy your deal.

I hear you. As we know, the house always wins. The dealer always figures out a way to make their money. Forums like this where info is shared helps a lot. But at the end of the day, and I hate to say this, it is only money. Now, I wouldn't pay over MSRP for any car. But you know what? I don't judge anyone that does. Fair amount of people work their ass off for their money and if they want to spend it more power to them. As a certain point, the difference between 13 percent off and 5 percent off is nothing compared to getting on and enjoying your life.

Agree. If I was a dealer. I'd swap out the front fender or a regular one, sell the DAI to cover the costs and call it a day.
At least then you could move the truck.
