It sounds like a lot of you are having trouble with the F150 spring and I regret mentioning it. It was what I had and used but it may not be that simple. The after market slave cylinder I got for the Tacoma had a very different spring from the OEM Toyota part. That's probably true of F150 aftermarket parts as well. So it's not just an F150 part and Bob's your uncle. READ THIS CAREFULLY>>> Whatever you use when you re-install the slave cylinder it has to apply about a 5 lb force on the TOB arm. AND This fix can't raise a clutch from the dead. If you've got too much damage done it can't reverse it.

Thank you for the quick reply, but I haven’t tried your solution yet!! All I wanted to know was a confirmation on what I would need. But now it sounds like I should get the upgraded Toyota slave Cylinder plus and aftermarket sleeve/tob.
I went under there today and opened up the inspection window in order to see if a little chain lube would help things... but I don’t think it did. But it appeared to me like the bearing was already constantly spinning which would render the different spring useless? Or do I have that backwards somehow?
    First check/video - no noise.
    https://youtu.be/ftW6fMwsfJs

Second check/video (after pressing and releasing the clutch pedal a few times) - the all to familiar chirp. You can actually hear it getting worse about 15 seconds in.
    https://youtu.be/VZX272fskik

I’d love you guys to listen to this and tell me if I’m on the right track. Pretty please? The wetness is the chain lube.

The only thing I noticed while down there, was that the fork had about 2 mm vertical play, none horizontally - please see picture.

Am I on the right track here?

Post 102..what track are you on? In the first video there's little vibration and no squeak in the second visible vibration that matches the squeak. The parts are worn so it all depends on how the TOB engages the clutch fingers...not a predictable process. Do you want to spend a few dollars and see if it is better or spend a whole lot and maybe get the problem back? This doesn't seem like a hard question to me.

Ya, not goin that route. Couple guys that did that, had the seal go out. One said it left him stranded and couldnt get the company to respond on replacement seal, so he just went back to stock setup. I'm just staying stock.

Ya and probably well more than that. No issues. Talked to a couple guys that have 250k on theirs chirping and never had any failures. Really couldnt find but maybe one or none, so i am just gonna roll with it. Doesnt really bother me too much anymore, lol. Maybe one day i will try the urd sleeve and TSB slave setup, but i think a couple people have went that route and it still came back. May be worth a try, but i dont have the time to tackle it right now and not paying someone to do it for me, to cheap, lol.

First of all, thanks a lot for replying. The weird thing is, that all those parts are newish - 6k miles or less. The only thing that wasn't replaced obviously, is the shaft, nor the slave cylinder. I found a (unfortunately terrible) picture of the shaft when they took it off and now I do seem to notice quite a bit of wear on it.
    IMG_2840.jpg
Think that's what causing the vibrations and therefore the chirp?

My track was that I would buy one of the sleeve kits and the updated slave cylinder. But doesn't it look to you like the tob is already spinning full time, eliminating the need for the new slave cylinder?

Much appreciate your time and knowledge on this.

Yeah, similar situation here. I won't be able to tackle this until the fall, but it's hard to find parts where I live, so I'll probably start looking. Pretty sure I at least need that sleeve kit and a new tob by then. Can't believe this is still such a grey area after all these years. And I kinda wanna do it myself this time - no mechanic will put in the time to figure this out. And also too cheap, lol

Ya, its the wear on the snout that causes the issues. The sleeve is supposed to account for the wear, but i have still read others saying it came back. Also have read others were it never came back with the sleeve, so its probably worth a shot, along with the TSB slave parts. Supposedly longer and stiffer, lol . There is a good video of a person using these parts somewhere on here, linked to youtube. Probably the route i will try when i get around to it one day. But after speaking to long time chirp owners (100-250k chirping), i am not really worried about a failure either, so whenever i finally get time to get around to it. I've probably got 70-80k on mine chirping, with no issues. Too much going on right now at home, to spend time on it. I'm still working, building a house (doing a lot of it myself), and 3 kids. Plus the place i work up just went into business in October, so lots of extra time there too.

If you do end up doing it, report back, lol.

Thanks man, actually sounds like you have way more on your plate than I do, so I’ll definitely report back here once I get to it in October/November. I will do it for sure (unless I break the truck beforehand or it gets lost obviously hahaha)

Sleeve kit with tob and the tsb slave parts was what I was thinking too. It’s quite a bit of work to get to it after all, really don’t feel like doing it another time after that. Turns out I’m not only cheap but also lazy. Not a great combo, just in case your wondering hahaha.

    Good luck with your house!

I'm pretty lazy too, plus my wife hates when i work on my truck. Ends up taking way longer than it should, cause beer :drunk:. HaHa

Not looking forward to all the work i signed up for on building this house. Wish i was more incompetent when it came to that or my wife didnt know that i am capable of doing it. Or i at least had more money to pay someone else, lol:spending: Plus cheap

Hey there. So is that clutch kit for the inside of the slave cylinder? I'm a little confused here. And the second part number says tacoma year 2010 and up, so unless your car description is off...

I will get one of the sleeve kits plus change the slave cylinder. But probably won't get to that until November.

i had the problem at around 65k which i dropped the the tranny and installed a Rhinopac Clutch with the quill sleeve. Came back 15k later. I'm looking to sell and trying to find a temporary fix so that I can sell. Might even just replace it again then sell right after. Mine is quite bad and even continues if i press the clutch pedal a little, it just changes the noise - this is why i think a heavier spring or longer rod in the slave would not be beneficial to me.

I'm at 242k km, chirp started at less than 230k km. Read enough(?) about chirp that I just ignore it till maybe some day I'll try whatever cheap fix I can find on here ( spring and cylinder?)

Hey all. Not sure anybody is still waiting for this, but I just finished installing the clutch master hydraulic bearing kit and I thought I had promised a quick review. Removing (and reinstalling even more) of the transmission in your driveway sucks - a transmission jack would have definitely helped. Inspected the shaft that the oem bearing rides on - and it was all shades of fucked up. Scratched and mushroomed - glad I got in there before something worse happened. The kit itself looks and feels impressive and bleeding was actually a breeze using one of those pump bleeders in combination with pumping the clutch pedal.

The clutch itself feels amazing. Super linear and smooth. I'll update once I have 10k on it and we shall see, but so far I'm very happy - if anybody wants pictures or a video, let me know. Cheers!

I'm curious to hear about your 10k update! The squeak is one issue I want fixed, and reading about some solutions, many seem hit or miss.

Still waiting on a clutch masters review @Scubajules ...

I have put this off for a few years, but with camping season coming and having my truck idling for long periods, I would LOVE to take care of this asap. I am at the point where I will sell my first born to see this issue resolved! Or dump the Taco, but I am beyond emotionally attached.

I replaced my bushing and never heard another “rocking chair squeak” did this on both my 99 and 06.

I'd like to contribute to this pile of information, although my results are still inconclusive... it's worth mentioning.

My newly purchased '09 with 226k has the chirp. Goes away once clutch is depressed. Last night I rebuilt the slave using OEM kit 04313-34011, as well as deleted the accumulator (awesome mod btw)

The squeak is actually more frequent now.

My plan is to deal with it, until the clutch lets go.. then replace everything while I'm in there.

I'm coming from a BMW E39 M5, and damn, we're much nicer to each other in the online groups and forums. It seems like y'all are taking things personal when we're all trying to figure out the same problem for years now.

Anyways, if my shit ever blows up, I'll update you guys. Otherwise I'm just letting it chirp until a full rebuild is necessitated.

You think its still on the stock clutch? I'm about 160k on mine and just wondering if this thing will ever give out, so i have a reason to get in there. Chirp dont bother me too much.
