Find some abused coilovers and rebuild them. I probably don’t have much more money in these than you have in your Dobinsons.

Dang that’s pretty solid, do you have plans for a bumper/winch? I bet I barely have 2.5” of lift.

If I can find some, I’ll get you to rebuild them for me. How many hours you reckon goes into building a set? Time consuming?

I think it took be about 2.5-3 hours for both. Could probably do it faster now that I have one under my belt

Thanks i think it can. My whole sterring and check engine light came on when it happend and cut power to the engine so i thought it was fucked. Seemed that way at least. But it seems its just a safety feature. Guy pulled me off the curb and didn't have a single light on. Ill take a pick of the underside later when its not raining.

@BamaTaco56 sound only happens in 4wd. Also cv angle smoothed out a little. Tires needed to scrub out. Got my shifter in the right place. I just need someone to weld it with a better welder because my welds don’t get deep enough penetration with my crappy welder lol.

Interesting. Your CV angle definitely doesn’t look as bad now, but the boot fins are still touching. That is irreverent, given that if that was the sound it would happen in 2wd also.

you don’t have the needle bearing in your diff, so that is out.

Are your LCA bushings bad? I can’t think of anything else that would cause a “rubber” sound past that and the tires. Jeff would have a more ideas though though.

    Are the welds cracking?

    LCA seem fine.
Yes, after i make about 8-10 shifts the shifter starts to bend at the weld. The welder doesn't get hot enough to penetrate the metal all the way.

It could be a lot of thing making that sound, is it while turning, going straight or both.

The collars he is using is a soft metal and the shifter is hardened steel. The 140amp welder he is using doesn't get hot enough to penetrate the shifter.

I actually switched to using a 13 mm wrench lol. But yea still doesnt penetrate the shifter metal well.

You may have to preheat the shifter to get good penetration.

i thought it was a 125 amp welder that you were using?

if it’s a 140, are you running it on a dedicated 20 amp breaker?
