Dunno why this weeks 100+ afternoons feel so much hotter than last weeks, but they do! Not even as humid either. Showered after mowing, got inspected and ran errands, then have been napping in the sunroom ever since!
I'll get in the pool after I repot some plants tomorrow!

Morning all! Stopping in for a weekly update. Looks like the weather here will be in the middle 80's after a gorgeous 59 degree night.
Wife and I will be painting our master bedroom today in preparation for new hard wood floors coming next week. Time to replace the 30 ish year old rug. Had a decent quiet week and am counting down the days till retirement. (46)
Truck is running great with an average of 25/26 mpg. Have a little under 5000 miles on it now. My commute will drop from 101 miles a day to about 50 a week. LOL. Hope everyone has a safe and healthy week!

I guess I am a senior folk now at 63. One thing I know is that retirement for me has been great! Came across this forum once before and meant to post, so saw it again and here I am. Sounds like a lot of you folks are do it yourselfers, me too . It's nice to be able to take your time with a project and not have to squeeze it in on the weekend in between kid's soccer games etc. Tacoma has been just right for hauling materials and enjoy the ease of driving/parking. Anyway, hope it's ok if I chime in once in a while, seems like a good group here!

A lot of do it yourselfers and a wealth of knowledge in the group. Keeping busy when retired is the key to a good life. Enjoy the thread.

Well, good morning all. Interesting way to start the Saturday. Wife got me out of bed with "Tornado Warning!" Our Lockhart sirens going off continuously! Some nice rain and wind going on, but no official warning on the phone or TV. She and the doggy had already been out closing the umbrellas, and putting up pool stuff. And some piece of the neighbors pool cover was stuck up on our shed. But nothing more than some 29 mph gusts recorded on the weather station, and a nice 3/4" of rain so far. (I won't have to do watering tonight!! We're on 2 night a week restrictions). So, enjoying my coffee, all safe and enjoying the sounds of rain on the sunroom roof! :pccoffee:

Good Morning all. I have a question for all the wizened old Tacoma owners out there.
I just moved from Michigan to Florida and now my 2019 Calvary Blue TRD Sport sits outside all day. Does anyone have any recommendations for keeping the paint looking good in this Florida weather. i.e. Hot sun until about 4, then clouds and rain for a few hours. Sleep / repeat.

Truck cover? Lots of wax? (best kind?). Unfortunately my wife's Highlander gets the garage.
    Bill

Welcome Bill, can't help you out with that as mine is in the garage most of the time. I am sure there are some folks here that will have a good answer for you. Have a good one.

Welcome Bill. I would use a decent synthetic wax in Florida. Megs 20 is decent. The problem in Florida is that it is so hot a good carnauba wax will melt right off the paint. Check out Autogeek for a wide variety of products. I use a product called Fuzion on my vehicles going into the winter. In the spring I use a decent carnauba called Pinnacle Souverän. The Pinnacle lasts an honest 3 months. The Fuzion lasts close to 6 months. If money is no object look into Zaino. I have used it before with great results.

WAX WAX WAX!!! You need to wax your truck at least twice a year with a quality product. Wax protects the finish and the clear coat and will keep it nice much much longer. Washing is important too as particulate and air pollution diminish the finish through chemical reactions. But waxing is of primary importance. There are different types of waxes and protectants, just choose a quality product. I personally prefer Meguiars products. I had a friend who was an automotive chemist who worked for Meguiars. Very smart guy who had numerous patents on automotive products he invented for Meguiars. He convinced me that Meguiar products are quality superior products (for scientific reasons, some which went far over my head).
Tacoma’s are notorious for having the clear coat start peeling around 8 to 10 years. This is more common on trucks that are not garaged and seldom waxed. Once the clear coat starts to go you have 2 options - let it continue until the paint peels off and it starts rusting or option #2 is get a new paint job. I’m scheduled to have my 11 year old truck painted next week.
Bottom line is wax that sucker.

OK then. Waxing it is! Thanks for the input, guys! I'll try the Meguiar's M20 and see how it goes.

Kurt, it hit us around 5:30 this morning .... headed your way. Lots of thunder and lighting and a couple of power glitches that just requires resetting a couple of things. We ended up with around 1.5 inches of rain and a small dog that didn't know what was happening. Hope you survived it all.

Well, we're desperate for weather-tainment around here!

All the wind really came before my wife got me up! Just an authentic thunderstorm when she woke me for the morning. She and the dog had been taking care of the yard before it hit, so I guess the little guy got all brave because he helped! We got 1.11", and all the neighbors leaves in the pool. I scooped a bunch, and then let Larry (Polaris) do the rest. Figured out what was up against the shed when it all stopped - was the neighbors above ground pool! Must have just drained it...
Enjoyed the noise and coffee, putzed on cleaning up, ran an errand and just woke up from a real nice nap!

WAX! Or ceramic! Little Big Red has never seen a garage. When I first got it, I did a DIY clear coat repair, proved it worked. Then last year, I had my friend with a shop go over where it had spread over the roof and doors. Once more this year on a front fender to stay ahead. The 3M clear he uses is a lot better than original, and mine shines up nicely.
