Camping World would be the absolute last place I’d ever go to for a RV. For anyone not familiar with then google the complaints. They will screw you in a heartbeat with jacking the price up on your purchase. They will also pressure you to put a deposit down on something to “hold it” which you won’t get back if you change your mind.

I’d be very leary of going over 65 on factory tires. They don’t call them China bombs for nothing. Most all of them are rated for 65 mph and overheat easily and blow. They are also barely rated to cover the weights of the trailer.

Glad to see you got tandems. They are a lot more stable on the road and pull really well. I’ll never have a camper without tandems.

I really like those little trailers. I’ve been planning on building one for a few years and haven’t broke down and done it yet. Then we bought a camper a couple years ago and I kinda put it on the back burner. I bet you’ll have a lot of fun with it. We went with the bigger option with bunk beds in the back for the kids. I’m at 4810 dry and 25’ long. Haha

sway bar for the rear of the truck, or a sway control bar for the trailer? The simple bolt on sway control I have for my pop up made a sizable difference in towing stability. A sway bar on the truck isn’t necessary I agree with that.

And why no to trailer brakes? It’s way safer and assuming you have the tow package it’s a $80-300 to add a controller and wiring harness, depending how fancy you go with the controller.

My dad has been living out of a 2dr wrangler and a small teardrop (Little guy wide 5 rough rider) for the last 3 years or so. He loves it and hasn’t had much in the way of issues.

    Dakar heavy.

it’s not bad at all. This is actually without the weight distribution hitch since the dealer told me the wrong ball size. Luckily I had a 2” hitch with me.

Also, I could stand to take about half an inch of preload out anyway.

    OK, the trip is completed.
Santa Fe to Las Cruces was still a tough haul, with Taco reving 4500-5000 several times. Gas mileage was the worst of the trip but admittedly, I drove faster than I should have or will again. But I have to say, after leaving home Monday morning at 0640 MDT and arriving home Thursday at 1515 MDT, after driving 1467.7 miles, a little more than half pulling a 4200 lb trailer with approximately 300-400 lbs of gear, I am very pleased with the performance of my 2017 Tacoma. Now we must quarantine for 2 weeks after being out of NM but we will be taking some nearby trips with the new trailer soon.

Oh no not camping world. I bought a nice used pop up there in 2017. The deal was great being it was the end of the season. The salesman was great but when it came time to pick it up a week later I'd never go back after that. They were to have fixed a part on the door, not done. They lost the keys to the camper. They were to wire a brake controller for the trailer in the Jeep I was towing with then. They weren't ready to do that. I waited over an hour for service to come get my keys in the waiting room. A 10am appointment the should have been 2.5 hours Topps, I left at 5pm with the trailer in tow. That was camping world Harrisburg. I was so aggravated that day with them. The excuse was they were short on staff. Then I found out half the staff was at an RV show.

    Thanks.

I haven’t even taken inside photos. I spent today cleaning the inside so I’ll take some pics tomorrow and post them.

The main problem I have with owning a pop up isn’t the setting up at camp. It’s having to set it up to do anything to it at home. Which thankfully so far has only been sanitizing the water lines and sweeping it out, but it would be easier if I could just open the door and get to work.

Then again, easy towing and 14mpg while towing are big pluses, and there’s so much space once your set up compared to a hard side that Tacoma’s can pull.

so far we have looked at geo pro, micro Minnie and the coachmen apex nano. So far the nano seems like the best bet with the 208bhs. Bunk beds for the kids, queen Murphy bed, kitchen slide out and dual axles. 4000lbs dry. Have also checked out the jayco jay feather micro and slx7. The trouble I’m having is finding a used one that isn’t 1500 miles away.

@Roscoe Taco that is NICE!!! Thank you for the tour and congratulations!! Seems the extra weight is worth the TT environment. Nice purchase and I look forward to hearing about your future adventures.
