Hopefully getting to some maintenance on the LC this weekend. Need to do the front brakes. Bought new calipers too because I suspect at least one of my fronts has a sticky piston. Also replacing the wheel bearings as those are a 30K maintance item on LC's (they are actual bearings you can replace inside of the hub vs a whole unit like the tacos..). Not sure they've ever been replaced, and even if they have you have to remove the hub to get the caliper off anyways so most of the work is done at that point.

Also need to fix the wiring on my rear elocker. Looks like the loom got rubbed through by the stock elocker shield and it busted one of the wires too. Lame. And finally install my LCP rear mud flap delete kit. :mudding:

Picking up my new (to me) stove tomorrow, hopefully and then installing it. Beyond that pretty low key, hanging out at camp. Supposed to be down in the 50's overnight this weekend, so I'm looking forward to actually enjoying the warmth from the evening 'hang out & drink' campfires with the neighbors rather than pushing back away from it, lol.

If your not still pushing back, that means it’s too small.

Meh. I've always been more of a fan of a smaller tipi-style fire that you can sit around and enjoy rather than an eyebrow-curling blaze that's so huge that you can't talk to the person across the fire from you.

Step 1 - Place pallet on ground

Step 2 - Mark 4 corners of pallet

Step 3 - Dig straight down

Step 4 - Place pallet, light

Dig down the center too so the ashes have a place to go, like a satellite dish shape. Done a few pits like this - pallets are easy to find fuel. Problem being some are not necessarily the cleanest wood......

Eh. The soil's pretty bony around here. It's a lot easier to just build a plain boring above-ground fire in a ring or similar.

I was thinking the same thing.

    Mark corners
    Dig hole
Find rock larger than the hole
Drink beer and pass out before dark.

All depends on where you are. My backyard fires are very different then my Moosehead camping fires.

My idiot neighbor had a concrete slab firepit poured when he was doing other stuff around the house and it cracked the 1st time he used it.
He ended up building a brick firepit on top of it

We just use some granite cobblestones that were buried in a pile out behind the house when we bought it. I hosed them off and made a ring out of them. Some have cracked over the years but I really don't care, lol. At the camp we're still just using the metal ring that came with it, again nothing fancy. The neighbors down there have a fairly elaborate (and large) prefab pit made out of concrete blocks with a steel ring that is quite nice, but they also spent like $400-$500 on it.

Edit- I've also got a couple of rather large brush/slash piles on the lower lot that are ready to go once we get some snow on the ground this winter. This summer's been too dry to even consider lighting them.

Just got back from a week long camping trip so laying low this weekend, unpacking and hanging around the house. Probably give the truck a bath also.

Nice! I'll be helping my buddy instruct a class tomorrow, but it's not as much fun instructing cause you don't get to shoot as much.
