    Viair showed up today. Was wondering if anyone has tips/tricks on mounting and upgrades for air up or trail fixes? My capacity is 150 psi from factory

    You will probably need a tank to run tools. 150psi is a generic term. Look into the flow rate, its probably around 1-3cfm. Keep in mind the duty cycle, it will probably need to be off for 30min for every 15min it's on. Or it will overheat and shut off.

    I run a Co2 tank with the regulator set at 185psi and it airs up tires faster then shop air. Its 30ish cfm? But its limited, I can air up about 4 sets of 33s and I'm out.

    The bigger the tank the more you can get done without waiting for things to recover .

    Do you need the air for air solenoids to be constant when the engine is running??

    If not maybe a portable set up is best hook up as needed .

    Just what are you planning to attempt to do that gives us a better idea.

    Specify what you are going to do with the air (e.g., air bags, lockers, inflate tires). That will determine a lot of the setup.

    My plan was air down wheel and if needed air tools to fix things if needed then air up when back to pavement. Elocked in rear no locker in front i’ll make a decision later on a locker in the front whether it be air or electric when I decide if I’m going to re-gear and go with larger tires I’m running 32 inch right now and I might go bigger but thats down the road. Appreciate the input A CO2 tank sounds good where did you mount yours Old Green Toyota?

    I have a on board air setup in my 85 4runner, running a extremeaire compressor. I bought a broken 4 gallon air compressor on craigslist for the tanks, its a twin tank setup which helped keep the profile slim. Its mounted in place of one of the rear seats. Though I have been thinking about relocating it under the body, perhaps with a new tank as well.

    I want to say that my shut off solenoid is a 120psi switch, which has been plenty for my setup.

    Planning on installing air couplers on the front and back of my 4runner using some NPT bulkhead fittings that I got from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Boeray-Fitti...1&keywords=npt+bulkhead&qid=1598029311&sr=8-4 And will be using 5/16 nylon air hose with push to connect fittings to plumb the entire system.

    Its been nice to air back up when and where ever I want to. I also keep a tool bag with my old air impact, the basic socket sizes I need, and a air nozzle to blow things off.

    I thought about OBA, then decided it was more work than what I needed. Cost/benefit wasn't there for me.

    I have a Viair 400P and a 5 gallon 125psi portable tank I carry. The tank is in case I need to re-seat a bead or something. All the plumbing and wiring just didn't pan out to be worth it for me.

    I have a travel trailer and another vehicle, so I didn't want to only be able to use the air in my truck. So a portable made the most sense, since I can put it in my trailer, or my tow vehicle, too.

    I took out the right rear and left rear tie down hooks, and mounted a tank holder on each side. I wrap a 25' air hose around the tank.

    Two 25# tanks has been plenty, my group airs down to around 8-10psi in the snow. Refills are about $15 with a wholesale account.

    This set up has worked well and is easy to take out when I dont need it.

    The picture isn't my truck but a similar setup.

    Just checked its the 400p I also purchased some brass valves to do a preset psi for 15 pounds and I noticed that it didn’t get very hot when I was doing two of the wheels last night I did read in the manual that you void the warranty if you mount it anywhere. Going off of your set up combined with old green Toyota I was thinking about maybe doing a two tank mount in the frame rail and mounting connection points forward and rear and then maybe secure the compressor itself in a box in the bed or in the cab where I can monitor it

    I have dual viair 444's with 3 gal tank in the bed. This is how I mounted the air comps and solenoids.

    The air comps are regulated to 120psi via a pressure sensor wired up to a solenoid that will cut the air comps in/out.

    Nice setup right there !! That's sweet ! Just curious , did you have to go with an alternator upgrade to run those two , or is the Yellow Top Optima good enough ??

    I have no problem with just the optima. You’ll be fine even with a regular lead battery. I just make sure to have the engine running when in use.

    My truck has a cross bed toolbox and the comp is in there. I ran a #6 weld cable back from a high amp switch and 40 amp breaker into the box. The comp is a Viair 450 and uses a Viair pressure switch to regulate when the power is on. I deliberately chose the off setting - 105 psi - to match the 100% duty cycle rating of the unit. Ordinarily I leave it shut off and the tank at home - only bring it when I expect to air down.

    2.7 w/auto, 4WU 3 link, F & R Diamonds, ARB's F/R w/ Yukon 5.29's, Inchworm 4.7 Lefty, Deavers, ARB OBA, Schrockworks up front.
    I went this route since I have ARB lockers F&R. Both sliders hold air and I added a 2.5 gallon Viair tank where the spare tire used to hang out. I put the air chuck behind the fuel door. The supplied ARB air line reaches to all 4 tires.
