Im not knocking Smittybuilt. Just saying id rather spend my money on a product made by Viair if not ARB.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Yeah I use a Viair also. It is my third portable compressor and the best of what I have used. My tires are recommended 30psi, I air down to 24 every trip, a good compromise, not too hard, or soft. Too bumpy otherwise. I am also filling them back up each time before heading onto the pavement.

For sure. The Viair stuff is nice and I looked hard into getting one myself. My buddy has one and he seems to like it. I just wish they came out with a higher powered model, as their current offerings are almost half the CFM of that Smittybilt and the dual ARB.

Not mentioned, is that airing out to smooth the ride, is more of a small truck issue. Tacoma, Nissan Frontier, Mazda B4000, Ranger, etc. I never had to do this with my 2 large Ford pickups. They rode like cadillacs on the same washboard pothole roads. Those big trucks though, can't get down the smaller trails I take my Tacoma on, and the B4000 I also had. ATV trails all the time with that small truck.

Don't know how you guys handle all that heat down south. I made 2 driving trips from Vancouver to Phoenix, both at the height of summer. Hitting 115F on those trips. Nasty. Can't get out and do much of anything in that heat, housebound. Nice sunshine, but too damn hot.

Airing down serves three purposes basically.
    1. Improved traction and flotation buy enlarging the footprint.
    2. Safeguarding against punctures.
    3. Aiding in comfort when off road. Allowing the tire to absord and isolate some of the impact when going over rocks..etc

Took her out to Wildomar OHV area to check out a few trails. Didn’t realize there were tons of very difficult trails for 2wd there. Almost got stuck on one of the harder trail, good thing i had LSD and was able to get out. End up doing just a shorter loop trail nearby. Heres the link to the YT video.

How is this trail compare to Cleghorn? I’m from the high desert and formerly owned a 17 TRd Sport 2wd, now upgraded to a 2020 off-road 4wd looking for some intermediate trails.

It’s different. You can definitely go from hard to easy in this area. Its not just a trail, but an overall area with many trails crossing each other. I was more scare here compared to Cleghorn in my 2wd since there aren’t a lot of area to back out once you’re on a trail.
