Has anyone had their truck beds start rattling, clunking or become loose? Went on a cabin trip and after coming home, the bed started rattling over low-speed bumps as if I had a tow hitch on. I had maybe 500 pounds of totes and equipment... Doesn't sound like it should have been enough to cause this. I hardly carry anything in my truck bed of considerable weight and only tow a 18.5 fiberglass bass boat. 2018 with roughly 37k on the truck. When I grab either side of the bed on any corner and shake the truck, I can hear the clunking sound. Going to take a torx 55 to the bolts later, but in case that is not the problem, where else should I look? It is clearly coming from the bed.

    Thanks!

Have to ask you if you bought the truck used because if it ever got in a car accident and rear ended the composite beds crack and break they’ll replace the whole bed FYi And if not done by a good body shop who knows what they’re doing it could be just the six bolts need to be tightened down torqued Hope that helps

Purchased the truck brand new back in 18. No accidents or fender benders. This is a first occurrence for any clunking.

I remember hearing stories of Gen 3s with under torque bed bolts from factory. I'd wager the vibes walked the bolts out a little more and wala bed rattle. Fix it ASAP, since the composite bed "feet" rub against the metal mount pedestals and will self clearance. Then it will permanently rattle even after re-torquing

I think warranty is only up to 36k.

I had that issue with 15k miles. 3 out of the 6 bolts, I was able to loosen by hand...

Tightened to 50 ft/lb and done.

can you tighten the bolts down on top of the bed very easy or have a mecanic do it if you can’t it’s the large star heads on the bottom of the bed see if they are loose they bolt to the frame

Verdict - loose bed bolt. Took a T-55 to all 6 bolts and had 2 loose.

I have a noise that sounds like the bed after 9 days of wheeling in CO. Checking tonight. I found a bunch of brass that got under the bed mat and thought that was the noise, but it happened on the way to work again today. Thanks for the heads up.

Lol only trying to help & it might be that if your truck was built in Mexico it could have been a oversight glad it worked out for you

Stupid questions but how do you find where the bed bolt locations are?

They're located in the bed. You'll see 6 silver bolts that take a star style tool to tighten.

So you tighten from the top of the bed?
