TRD Pro Grill and Garnish info, Updated.

Yep. You will get a clean sensor error when it sticks to the garnish.

 

I've had my TRD Pro grille on for exactly a year now. It took about two weeks to adjust but after that it has worked fine when needed. The weird part about the sensor is it will sometimes give false erros and whenever my sensor starts to beep, it will beep nonstop until I turn the truck off and back on. Kinda weird

 

I added a cple washers to the top screw. The TSS stop work.

 

bummer, maybe try to add 1 or remove 1 to find the perfect spot? Did you notice the wiggle room if you tighten without the washer? All grills and garnishes seem to be slightly different.

 

Not everyone's TSS took the same amount of washers to get the error to go away. It took 4 washers before mine went away. I just added washers one at a time until the error didn't reappear. You can easily add washers without taking the grill off, you just reach in from the top to access the top screw to the TSS sensor and add washers.

 

you would think since it's a OEM from a dealer it would work properly without a washer, wonder if they resell knockoffs and pass as real.

 

It shouldn't matter if it's OEM or aftermarket. The TSS sensor is being located to a different location on the grill from stock, thus adding the washers is believed to adjust for the angle change after the move. It's not the actual garnish that causes the error.

 

The Truck Accessories Guy.com did not reply to my email. I ordered a genuine OEM cover.

 

It's not the garnish, its the grill thats the problem.

 

2020 TRD PRO should not need a washer I think.

 

Thats what I was thinking but the pro may have a slightlt different bracket or bend than a non pro like kairide mentioned above.

 

If you have Pro, than you should not need a washer.

 

I don't see any genuine OEM grill that needs a washer in TW.

 

I used all OEM parts for mine and didn't need any washers. Only errors I have gotten were snow build up or what I was told was "sun glare" once.

 

My TacoGarage garnish didn’t need any washer and I haven’t had any errors.

 

This is the best video showing the issues when swapping to a TRD Pro Grill with Garnish. The garnish is usually not the issue. It's actually the angle at which it sits at and on most lifted trucks it will be pointed too high and throw an error code. A few spacers on top of the garnish will solve the issue. Purchased grill with Raptor lights and garnish on Wednesday. Arrived on Saturday. Installed last night and driving to Lake Tahoe today. Install was a breeze. I think the grill was easier than the ignition button swap. Tacogarage is the place to go in my opinion. And no sensor errors.

 

To be clear *THIS IS NOT YOUR GRILLE* My concern for you is this. I purchased a grill from a company. I like the guy so I will not put him out there but after I installed the grill, I wiped it down with a damp microfiber to wipe it clean after install only to notice defects and pealing of the paint. I’ve had the grill for a 5 hours at the time and the only thing it touched was my hands. I’m pissed. I spent my entire evening working on this. The grill part was pretty easy but I didn’t have everything for the raptor lights so I had to go back and fourth which took time. The raptor lights were wayyyyy to tight and had to force them in which left marks. The grille lacked any sort of clear coat to protect and if it did have any it had to be very very thin. Which leads me to believe this, the OEM has a slight gloss to it because it’s well protected with a satin clear coat. My concern is that all of these grilles will have issues in the paint / color / protection. This grill did not look like this until after I handled it but with extreme care. You can tell it was not damaged as you can see pealing inside crevices. Would love your feedback on this because I’m considering your grille before I buy OEM.

 

ok Pro Grill gang, after being good and no errors, I had to be a fool and I just lifted 2" in front, 1" rear so now my angles have changed and I get the dreaded error. I'm going to try moving all the washers as a start point and then add 1 by one to see if I can get it working again.
Question - any else with the Pro Grill lifted similar to my 2" and have any luck? I know I can have the dealer disable it but hoping to make it work. thx

 

Had the same OEM grille and garnish installed on two different trucks (2018 SR & 2020 SR5) and I have had no issues with errors.
