Truck has 1700 miles on it. I haven’t driven it hard. Haven’t baby’d it either, just normal driving.

So I was leaving work today and was stopped at a stop sign waiting to merge on to a busy 50mph limit road. I saw a gap and decided to take it but when I started my merge I realized the car approaching was coming pretty quick. So for the first time I had to jump on the accelerator...

And the truck took off like a bat outta hell. Zero hesitation, gear jumping or anything other than acceleration. Good acceleration. Plenty to get me up and out of the way and then some.

According to Tacomaworld I should be dead right now.

According to Tacomaworld, your truck is a piece of shit, and you should either sell it to Carvana or set it on fire...

Was it in Sport mode or did you press the ECT button? Maybe you just never pressed the gas hard before.

if a AT you have witch they call a passing gear jumps down to get instant speed MT don’t have that feature they just go in the gear that your in is why MT is so much better & you can change out the rest end gearing for even a quicker response

Oh newb, yes you are correct things are overblown here, but coming from someone who has had a 16 and 17 prior to the transmission software update, there was VERY much so a hesitation and few OH SH*T moments when trying to accelerate from a dead stop / etc. not an issue on updated trucks / 2020s, so people will of course say "you people are full of it", etc. but there were some times in my older 3rd gens I was like WTF, not the case in my 19 or 20.

You can always try it again & again until it finally does hesitate, & then report back that everything is normal...

How long of a chain would be needed to lock up my bike to the leaf springs?

I was on an empty road and pushed the accelerator 1/2 inch too far and went into hyperspace. Coming from a 4 cylinder accord though. Felt amazing, had to change underwear and eat 7 cheese sticks.

If the 3.5 is good enough for Karen's Sienna, Highlander or Camry is should be good enough for a Tacoma
