Assuming inventory stabilizes and you can get a similar 2021 (there are literally no updates from your prem 2020) for that same price or slightly better, or that interest rates will remain low, etc. etc. verdict is still out and seems like a gamble at this point.

Yeah, I figure worst case I can get the exact same thing but brand new again. I have access to another car, so being down one for a bit isn't a big deal fortunately.

Gotcha. I thought about the same with my 2020 and downsizing back to a 2nd gen, but they are just as inflated in price.

That's definitely the problem - if you need to buy right away after selling now, you're stuck paying higher prices no matter what you're looking at. A lot like the housing market.

Its insane too, houses are selling in a day or two all around us for asking if not more. Really curious how this whole scenario turns out.

There's not a second gen to be had right now in my area that's a good price. It seems like they all jumped up even more in price. I've even looked at buying another 1st gen, but a double cab this time and nope a clean stocker is now stupid money. I even looked at Frontiers and despite the market being flooded at one point there's little to be had that's priced right. I'd only exit my 3rd gen if I can pocket a huge chunk of cash

In the end there's going to be people stuck with car and truck loans that will be underwater big time. The perceived "rarity" is just an illusion and OEM's will make more as they always do

Yep, I'm in a good spot with my 2020, not underwater, 1.9% interest rate, I'll just keep it, was considering the idea of a clean break and moving into something cheaper even though I can more than afford my current truck and put that in savings/investment, but I refuse to pay new prices for 3 year old plus trucks with 50k miles. The market will correct itself at some point and some people are gonna be fu*ked.

I'm fortunate enough that my 2018 TRD OR DCSB 4WD is paid off and i've kept the miles low currently sitting at 2600. I'd love to exit, but the vehicle that replaced it would have to be stupid clean and priced right. I can't see myself going back to driving something that needs constant tinkering to be perfect. Maybe it's all part of getting older I just don't have time for that.

Yea I’m finding the same thing, clean 2nd Gens going for $30,000 for a 5-6 yr old truck just don’t make sense to me. My offer expires Monday. If the next offer is more I’ll sell and find something or if it’s less I’ll keep it. Don’t have to sell, truck is paid off. But that profit is eating at me.

Are any of you looking up how much they are selling your truck for out of curiosity?

Dumb question for you. Have you thought about selling. Pocketing the cash and them moving into a sedan or non truck? Just curious. Not arguing just legitimately interested in your thoughts. Grab the cash, park it and find a deal elsewhere on a non truck -- there are plenty to be had. I probably won't do that either but boy I thought about it. Have you heard about this? Made me really curious. And then I stopped. :). But still.

Yes I did. Pocketed the $36K and leased a Ridgeline RTL-E $417 a month. It's a great truck/SUV combination... I won't have a sedan. I really don't need the back seat. I wanted an SUV with a car-like ride.Hence an RX350 or Acura MDX..Then I test drove the pilot and liked it but I want a truck bed so I can do with it all I did with the Ranger. Ridgeline.... I bought the cushy ride of a unibody with a great 4' wide Flat bed and tons of flat floor with seats raised.

I am well aware natzi truck drivers will call it all kinds of names "truck" not being one of them. But to 99% of all non truck people, it's a truck, not that I care.

I have, honestly I commute to 3 different hospitals 2 hours roundtrip 3 times a week, wouldn't mind a hybrid rav4 or new camry. Problem is I'd know I'd be counting down the days till I could get back in a truck.

I might go this route. I wish they could give you a rough offer at CarMax without having to schedule an appointment. But I have a carMax a lot closer than a caravana (140 miles vs 800 miles) but I really liked the carvana offer at $37,500 for my 2020

It's fairly easy. If you click on the end of lease options on Toyota financial you can find your payoff price. Compare that against your offer to find out if it's worth it.

Just as a comparison point, carvana offered me between 38-39k over the last few weeks. CarMax was 41k after a ten minute appraisal.

I'm buying a new tacoma. Access cab this time. For less than I'm selling my 2019 for, granted it isn't optioned as well. But still starting over at zero miles.
