I’m a fan of the Type 3s. These are not photos of my cars, but these are the correct colors. Got the fastback in college. It was in great shape but it was only a couple of years old at the time. Swapped a Fiat 131 for a red 71 Squareback. The Squareback was a gulf coast car and had a ton of rust. Later I bought a tan 71 Squareback that needed some work, so I swapped the running gear from the red one into it. Still would like to find one to mess around with when I retire.

Slap sticks. Ridiculous in a street car, but I knew two guys who ran them in high school - one in a 69 Cutlass and the second in a tubbed Gremlin.

I have a 63 bug in my garage waiting for me to retire so I can restore it. Rather have a split window bus but they are out of my price range at this time. This was the last time it saw light a few years ago and first time it was out of the garage in many years.

They are actually called Lightening Rods.

Slap stick is a term used by Moper for their console shifted automatics. I used to have a 1971 CUDA with a Slap Stick auto.

Dirtjunkie got it. They were originally made by hurst, and were available for many cars. The 1983/84 "Hurst/Olds" Cutlass came with them as OEM equipment...

Yep, I recently saw [about two years ago] an original 84 Hurst Olds in a parking lot. Beat to hell but it had that shifter in it. Not a very desirable year for those cars but that shifter was pretty bad ass. Painted up in the original gold / black and red paint scheme with serious oxidation. A perfect survivor just waiting for some love.

I also owned a 1969 Ram Air IV GTO that had a Hurst Dual Gate Shifter. Also called a His and Hers shifter.

I sure miss her. Those in the know would know they only made 759 - 1969 GTO’s with the ultimate power plant. The RAM AIR IV motor. Don’t even go there with the 455 mumbo jumbo. I smoked three of them. One a 1970 Judge and the other two 1973 SD 455 Firebirds. Ahh...those were the days. Not much on the streets could touch this car. I had it back in the early 1980’s. It certainly didn’t hurt that the ex mechanic for top fuel drag racer Eddie Hill rebuilt the motor. Balanced and blue printed with some other tricks added. I also replaced the 3:90 10 bolt with a 12 bolt Chevy 4:56 ratio. Fun street car back in the day. It didn’t hurt that the looks attracted every hottie within sight of it. Lol

These photos were taken in 1982 after a week long sub 20° freeze in Northern Colorado. The first day above freezing I pulled it out of the garage and washed it. My driveway was dirt on top of a mountain. The photos are deceiving in how it sat. The rear drivers side wheel was in a rut in the driveway. Made it look more jacked up than it was. My best friend was a body and paint guy. We blocked and painted that car three times to get it perfect. Black with blue pearl.

I raced a lot of top tier muscle cars in this.

    LS5 454 Chevelles
    LS6 454 Chevelle
    GT 500 Shelby
    GT 350 Shelby
440 Six Pack Road Runner and GTX
    340 Six Pack Challenger T/A
    340 Dart with a blower.
GTO’s and Firebirds in every configuration:
A couple of V8 Vegas and stripped down Mavericks. Full on quarter mile cars.
    Numerous Camaro's etc.
This car never disappointed. I always got a kick out blowing the doors off one of those and them insisting on looking at the motor for nitrous. Go ahead, I don’t run it. I lift the hood while several peer in. So many in amazement looking into a stock looking engine bay that didn’t even have aftermarket headers. Look close, those are factory tuned headers. LOL, sorry no nitrous.

My problem was moisture and leakage, due to rust. The air channels were only partially functional. But I was poor and ice scrapers were cheap so on I went.

    That’s a rare one, a 1965?

1963. First year Pontiac went to vertical headlights. Can’t see them in these photos, but some Pontiacs had 8 lug wheels with finned brake drums. Pretty neat looking setup.

Here’s the type of wheel I was talking about. The rim itself looked a little like the early VW Bug 5 lug wheel.

Well then you should appreciate this one. Here’s one I spotted a couple of months ago local to me. So rare in that it’s a convertible and a 428 car. A 1969 Pontiac Bonneville 428. Very few of these cars survived, very few were convertible. Very few were optioned with the bad ass 428 motor. Very few were convertible and a 428. I did’t get to talk to the owner but it was definitely a nice restoration. Interior not viewed in the photos was all black and on the floor console auto.

Yeah, either homemade or from that company, no thanks!

The Callaway version is much better in execution, still wouldn’t rock it on my end. :)

A Vette is not to be altered. Unless of course it’s done correctly like this.

    https://www.corvetteblogger.com/201...estomod-headed-to-barrett-jackson-scottsdale/

Be sure to tune in to how the intake system works with the otherwise “fake louvers” on the 1963 ONLY factory hood. The way the factory should have done it.

If you can’t build this kind of quality into a classic custom, especially a Vette, please don’t go there.

Paint it navy blue metal flake with 69 Firebird slotted taillights and paint the back end white and I’m all set. Edit: and Hooker sidepipes, of course. Edit: Anson slotted mags. Electro luminescent carriage lights
