Got to test out the new 35/12.5r17’s and regear this past weekend and just wow what a difference compared to my old 285/75r16’s. Ride is more smooth off road and have gained a bunch extra clearance. Put it to its test at Vmuts Running trail 69 up to red ridge lookout and then after lunch hit redbridge back door trail down. It was a blast with a great bunch of people. Here are some photos.8901BD6D-3358-453B-B1DE-C927016C4A6B.jpg 3788BE88-58F5-45EA-823E-A7068F0D7388.jpg6AF97C46-D289-4D9F-AA5B-AFC5BC3C05A7.jpg 344E555C-B490-4D19-86AF-BB5190A5314B.jpg76D494CF-1F11-4110-AE19-30FF5C69E233.jpg D724877D-CF7F-4D0B-9CF4-784AC626DF47.jpg

We ended up taking the redbridge Back door trail after doing 69 and that’s where chris ended up getting stuck for a few hours going though the mud down below the big rock ledge to try and save his rear bumper on the big rock. It was definitely a fun and much more challenging trail then day one.

I paid $1359 plus tax for Michelin X-Ice tires and steel rims a couple years ago. The tires MSRP is around $300, so about $40 per rim.

last time up there 2 out of 3 of us had to winch out of that drop/mudhole on trail 69 by that small lake. trail 69 is the biggest challenge in VMUTs i have found so far.

looks like it. easier last year in that video than it was this year with 2.5" bigger tires and a rear traction device. big difference when wet and muddy.

    Mostly stock for now...
I paid $72/ rim for stock steelies from the dealership in Dec. 2018 - the whole deal - Stock size winter tires and rims and TPMS sensors and a set of lug nuts was $1250. + tax
I know, I was being lazy getting it all from the dealer, but at the time I didn't have much spare time to spend shopping around for deals elsewhere... :)

    Yes it is!

You guys did it the 'easier' way coming down. If you go up to the lookout using that route, it is a ton of fun

Is this the back loop? (I was following the group at the time, not paying attention to where we were in the map, and didn't have Gaia or any other app :anonymous: )

I was going to buy steel rims then I looked at the rust on my wife's Mustang steelies that she had at that time. I like the stock sport rims and ended up buying another set of sport rims with tires from a local member and mounted Cooper Discoverer M+S on them for about $1200.00

Still have the stock tires from the second set and will use them once my originals are toast. Also should note that my sport doesn't have sensors and the second set came with stock lugs as well.

    Its a bit confusing,

On the new map it is trail #21, it starts at the end of Pine road in Balsam Creek.

On the old map there was 2 trail #21

I don't feel so bad now. At least I wasn't the only one.

It seems the mud wasn't the only thing my tires weren't up to. I have a leak in one tire. I'll take a better look tomorrow but I maybe looking for new tires sooner than I planned.
