My alarm went off and the radio turned on as well as the blinkers. Now the truck won’t start. It tries to start, but it just rapid fire clicks. A bit into trying to get it going the breaks also stiffened up. Anyone know anything I don’t? I’m in Texas, so heat could definitely be a factor, but I also noticed some hiccups in the start earlier today but I didn’t do anything about it.

Could be an issue with your immobilizer. Alarm goes off and it'll prevent the truck from starting. Wait an hour and try again.

Not to my knowledge, but I just bought her so there might be some stuff that I’m not familiar with

    1. Is the flashing key symbol flashing with NO key in the ignition?
    2. Does the key symbol flash with key in the ignition and turned to ON or Crank?
    3. The flashing Key Symbol is to the right of the clock on the dash.

I'll bet a six pack that it's a low battery.

    It would not surprise me.

Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
Rapid clicking of the starter solenoid is a symptom of a low battery, poor battery/starter connection, corroded battery cable, etc.

    This.

I had the same issue today with my wife's 2010 Highlander. Got ready to go to Costco and rapid clicks. Check battery with a meter 8.7 damn volts without trying to start it. Autozone, 159 bucks later a new battery installed. Still made it to Costco with plenty of time to spare.

I should have listened to her when she said it was clicking last week. :anonymous:

I’d say this too. Or maybe a slightly loose connection will not provide enough current to crank over

Have you checked the battery voltage?
I have never experienced the alarm going off with low battery voltage.
But then again, I’ve never really had a low voltage issue.
My battery just stopped working over night.
