I had that shop pull the 5 spd manual transmission to replace a leaking seal in the trans. They replaced the clutch, pilot/throw out bearings pressure plate and flywheel prior.
After I picked it up I drove it and it sounds good until I let off the gas, especially in first gear. It makes a sound like Ujoints have gone bad since the noise goes away when I press in the clutch.
Everything looks and feels good. Runs great. But that bearing sound you get when ujoints go south is what I am worried about.
In first gear turning into a drive way it makes the squeekclick squeek squeekclick squeek until I press in the clutch. Some play in the center bearing but that was checked supposedly.
The drive train looks and feels solid. As usual it won't do it for the tech at the shop.
Just had CV axles done recently.
    It has me stumped.
    Any Ideas?

Was thinking the same. I went to Jiffy Lube my last couple times for usual LOF. I should know better. Thanks! I will get that done asap! I'll let you know.

You gotta get under the truck and look closely at all the fittings some are hidden, my single cab had 8 fittings, put some red and tacky on the grease gun and the ticking and squeaking went away, helps if you watch a youtube vid, if you still hear it a lil then its just telling you that theyll eventually break the u joints, but lube it up every oil change, the guys at the dealer and iffy lube will say they lubed them but ALL of them always miss the hidden ones and dont lube it all up, the gun and grease can be had at $25 at walmart

You have concurred my thoughts. I looked at some of the lube fittings and see they have never been greased. Thanks so very much. I'm doing that first thing. You guys have helped me every time. I love Tacoma World.

I lubed all fittings except the CV axles since they were installed a month or two ago. I still hear the noise in 1st gear especially after doing a left and it sounds like the right front area. Only happens at crawl in first gear after letting foot off the gas, and stops when clutch is depressed. The sound of the squeak corresponds with the rotation of the drive line somewhere.
I'm having the place that installed the CV Axles check them Monday.
The noise is familiar. Like U Joints! But they feel solid. Drive shaft pros told me the ujoints are hard to inspect until you actually pull them out.
    Driving me nuts!!

I went under and found the u joints from the Center Bearing to trans-axle with a fraction of play in them The Yoke feels a minute amount as well. I want to replace the whole drive shaft to eliminate worry and it will take a week to get in. A whole week?
This is a video of the noise I am hearing.

Very slight vibrations in the drive line that comes and goes with sound of very faint grinding as I increase speed. It has a lot of miles on the current propeller shaft. I must have buried it in desert sand a couple times since.

Replaced all U Joints and Center Bearing. That was a task! Tracking down the correct U Joints was a bit much. First I ordered a full drive shaft and received the wrong one. That was with all the data needed to get the correct one too. SO I find out you can't get a full drive shaft for my 03 3.4L 4x Manual Trans until December! HUH! So after all the hassle of tracking the CORRECT U joints down they are finally done. Found rust in a couple end caps and extreme dryness.
From now on I will do the lube myself. Noise is gone, no vibrations. Drives great. Muffler is loud but not the Drive Shaft.
OH What a feeling! Will test drive more tomorrow. :fingerscrossed:

Awesome, drive by a close wall to wall alley and see if you maybe have a hole in exhaust system, or just get a ‘quiet flow’ exhaust

First thing this morning it won't go into gear (reverse). Had to pump the Clutch pedal a couple times get backed out and when I put the clutch pedal in it still rolls a taste. I get it in neutral warm it up and it works normal. Drove it around and it shifts great, runs fantastic. slight grumble almost sounds like front wheel bearings. The muffler is louder than normal so I will see what that takes. Feels like bad slave on the clutch. I am going to blast into that tomorrow.
Tires balanced new Center Bearing in. New U Joints, New Clutch and related items. No Vibrations. I love looking in the mirror and not seeing a blurred car behind me.

Had to rebuild the transmission! Replaced Input Shaft and all worn gears as well as Synchros!! They did it right! Replaced the seals!
I highly recommend 'Transmission Experts' in Yucca Valley.
Took a while due to parts shortage but the experience they have is so worth the quality they put into the build.
Tomorrow I try the dirt! :tumbleweed::mudding:YA!!!!!
