Nothing to be worried about. More of a PSA / FYI because most people don’t know that you can not accept the product if it’s damaged in shipping.
This ties both the consumer and business hands. See the customer what’s his stuff right. But the business shipped the stuff right. And the middle man screwed it up. So who’s to blame once you sign it away from the middle man?

Mine was supposed to be delivered yesterday but I haven’t heard anything from UPS and there hasn’t been an appointment set up yet. Gonna see if I can stop by at the local UPS and see if then can be of some assistance.

OPEN THAT BAD BABY UP!!

 

I’m currently at UPS trying to pick up since they didn’t have on the truck for delivery today even though I received a call yesterday and setup an appointment for delivery today. I was told I can pick up from UPS freight location and now that I’m here that are telling me that it is currently lost!! Wtf!!!!

 

Dam, it looks like UPS is fucking this shit up

 

Sorry for your guys issues with UPS. If it helps, I can’t even open it yet cause I have a huge work deadline I have to finish. :/

 

So I just left UPS, no tent. They don’t know where it’s at. The guy in dispatch was saying that maybe it got loaded in another trailer and won’t know until the other trailer gets unloaded. But that’s just a guess assuming that it did get loaded into another trailer. Either way they have no idea where it’s at.

 

It’s amazing they can manage such small packages, maybe next time the tents can be shipped in smaller parts.

 

So many issues with ups.
I tried to have them change shippers but the price difference to the consumer is huge.

 

So I finished work really late tonight. Once I was free I started unboxing the tent around 2100. The cardboard box was really beefy and hard to cut. I appreciated the fact that a heavy cardboard was used. The tent was mummified in plastic wrap.



I was surprised to find that the RTT was completely assembled and ready to mount on my rig! I know other manufacturers require you to put it together for the first time. After unboxing the RTT I decided not to mount the tent at night. It’s been a hella long day and didn’t want to risk tripping over something in the dark. But I did open the tent just to see what it looked like. Initial impressions: the material felt very beefy and solid. The matt felt stiff, but I could tell that it needed to be broken in. When I closed the unit back up, I noticed a rivet on one of the locks was not there. The unit will lock but it’s not super secure. I’ll email the owners to find a resolution.


Overall, I’m pretty happy with this product. Hopefully tomorrow I can get everything all squared away so I can use this weekend on my camping trip.

 

Did Alex get in touch with you? He said they’re sending you a new latch or something like that.

So after harassing UPS more this morning they finally found my tent. It looks like they beat the box to sh!t though. I made then inbox it so I could inspect it before accepting it though. The tent itself looks to be undamaged. However I did order some accessories (annex, liner, awning) that I was told would ship with the tent but it doesn’t look like I received. I really doubt that they are inside the actual tent but I won’t be able to check till later this afternoon. Can anyone confirm if accessories are inside or should they be in a separate shipping?

 

@JIB83 the accessories should be coming to you anytime. They shipped separately from the tents.

 

Alright so after getting home and looking the tent over I would say that I am mostly satisfied with the purchase. I did have a few things that are worth mentioning though.

1. I did not receive any keys so I have no way of locking the tent right now. I have checked inside and in the accessory box that has the mounting hardware, nothing. I’ll reach out to DA about getting some.

2. The side windows DO NOT have the rain shields like mentioned in the earlier post. See pictures.

3. There are a lot of metal shavings inside the tent. My wife got a metal splinter while she was helping me open up. I’m sure most of them will vacuum up.

Other than those few things the tent is good. Feels solid and not cheaply made. I’ll post an update after we go on our first camping trip.

 

Hmm why no rain shields

 

Aww they’re the wrong orientation but overall pretty happy with it! Yeah be careful with the aluminum shavings and second on the no rain shields.

Interested in seeing how well the plastic for the moon roof holds up over time.

 

Also, trying to figure out what to do with all those long straps once the tent is up? I was thinking of replacing them with bungee cords like the roofnest wedges.
