OME BP-51 Install Report and Height Adjustment

Got this email today. I’m sure they will have something set up down the line and they look like great shocks, but I ended up going with the tried and true Kings. More travel, 2.5 vs 2.0, coil selection and I’m sure I won’t have any issue rebuilding those when the time comes either.

Well i installed my front coilivers (4 runner on my tacoma)yesterday. I forgot to measure the stock height realized it after the wheels were off and it was too hot SE texas so i went anhead and installed them my preload is 5mm qhoch is what read and found in the pdf instructions. When i opened the fit kit box the instructions said 10mm with out any extra weight. Well after i lowered it i noticed it didnt look my higher. I measured from the center of the hub to the fender and got 20.25 drivers and 20.50 passenger. Not sure why the revised there minimum preload in 2016. Any thoughts on if i should take them off and set them at 10mm.

 

Oh i forgot to mention i have sdhq sliders which are about 50lbs a sided

 

If you want to go higher, I would get the preload set higher for sure.

 

Is this the bracket you're talking about? If so, y'all just cut it off and let the brake line hang zip tied it? Thanks.

 

Mine is zip tied at the moment. I couldn't get the bolt in the leaf pack hole at midnight in the driveway lol

I'm worried if i flex some awkward way, i'm going to snag the line. I'd like to find a safe way to fix this, but i haven't gotten around to it yet

 

I have the opposite worry... If you flex TOO much and the line being snagged by being forced routed though that point... just cut it off

 

Yep. I cut mine off. Then wrapped rubber around it and ziptied the rubber on on protect that second of brake line front rubbing the leaf spring.

I just let the line hang. If not it will pull it out at full droop.

So, cut the metal bracket and zip tie the brake line to what? Can someone show a pic? I'm going to take a zip wheel to the bracket today

 

I cut the bracket off and just let the line hang.
But where the line rests on the leaf spring I wrapped it with rubber to give it a little extra material so it wouldn’t rub through the hose over time.

I used to have it ziptied up to the hole where that bracket would go but the first time I flexed the truck the ziptie snapped. Luckily i didn’t have the bracket on because it likely would have been the brake line.

i need to paint my spring brackets. They are ate up.

 

Paint them with Motorkote all-purpose friction spray like I did so those squeakpacks will STFU.

Nice. I took the whole pack apart and installed their newer spring isolators and greased each spring. They don't squeak but I am am getting a clunking sound in the rear that I have been chasing for awhile. Not sure if it's the springs or the shocks themselves. Anytime the suspension articulates independent of the other side (left side up while right down or vise-versa) it will make the clunk noise. Going straight back, no sound (from what I can tell). I hit up ARB and they are going to send me new rear shocks, but there backordered for 1 month.

 

I had this issue with my old ones on my first Tacoma. I found the U shaped spring brackets (not sure what they’re called” to be slightly bent and the leaf was hanging up on it.
