I’m not too sure, but body side of the ecu (usually 2 plugs) likely is similar if not the same. You MAY have to repin a few wires but that’s probably it.

Cool. Purely hypothetical, not something I am planning or doing. Unless I have a catastrophic engine failure of some kind, then I might consider it.

Guy that asked on the 4runner forum said he has a knock at startup and found bearing materials in the oil when he did a recent oil change, which is why he was asking.

Finding bearing pieces in the oil after a change would be a gut sinking feeling lol. That sucks

Yeah, not something that would be fun. I'll get a decent look at the bottom end of my 4runner motor when I do the tcase swap since the oil pan gets swapped for a modified one in the process.

Could send a sample out to Blackstone too, get a bill of overall health on the engine. I've been meaning to do that for awhile especially because the previous owner ran my truck supercharged without any fuel mods and led to a burnt out a cat. Odds of the engine not taking a hit from that are slim but I've never noticed anything unusual. Kind of scared to do the Blackstone thing actually, lol. Ignorance is bliss

20 years from now, one of us on here is going to end up in an asylum locked in a padded room, rocking back and forth in the corner all day long repeating '40s and tons, 40s and tons, 40s and tons' lol

Yea you can usually make any Toyota motor run just by messing with at most 30 wires body side. The engine stuffs all contained to the engine harness and ecu

I haven't done one on the 4runner yet but probably will next oil change. I have a bunch of the sample bottles ready for it. They send them free to you so it doesn't hurt to order some to have on hand.

I think EBC may be the best option then... they make some in the states others in Britain. My uncles tires of these shitty Chinese rotors lasting 5k when towing before they’re warped beyond belief

    Are there any metallurgists here?

I wonder if it would be possible to make a set of these chinese rotors "better" by putting them through an additional heat treatment
... if they even heat treat them at all over there

The cryo rotors were the worst ones.
