Even if the length is the same the bearings may be different

So then the elocker rear ends from a 3rd gen 4Runner aren’t the same as a ‘99 elocker rear? I know the bearings were the same.

How bad is the road crown where you are? I just did an alignment in my garage and had to keep tweaking the castor to get it to drive straight. Didn't bother actually figuring what each side was.

That's a good point and something I'm definitely more aware of these days. Our roads are mostly all slanted right to help with drainage, and in a lifted truck it definitely makes it feel like you're being pulled to the right. I do take that into consideration but the truck definitely still pulls right on it's own. I'm going to rotate my tires and see how bad it is after that, my right front tire is worn pretty unevenly and I think that's adding to the problem. Was bad about rotating them this year.

Does anyway know how weight bearing these would be? I was thinking about re doing my bed plate form and bolting angle iron to those screw locations.

I tried a 4runner shaft in my e locker housing back a few years ago and the placement for the bearing for the 4Runner shaft was different - it wasn’t noticeable until we had the bearings off both axles and put them side by side. This was despite the junkyard interchange saying they’d fit each other.

Interesting. I’m 95% positive mine went back together on the 4Runner shafts correctly. But now I’m doubting myself, wondering if I’ve messed something up.

It’s possible - I didn’t research around enough to see exactly how it happened I didn’t get a shaft that fit - I just threw the original in as the part with the bearing that had some wear and was the reason for looking for a replacement wasn’t too too bad.

So had an extremely interesting interaction at Autozone today. Very early in my owning my truck (2007, back when some of you were still on your Big Wheels), I found it necessary to replace a CV joint. PO had used one of those needle things to punch a hole in the boot to grease it. Constantly slung grease back out, and I got tired of it. I purchased a remanufactured at Autozone, that had a lifetime warranty. Fast forward 13 years, and recently, I saw that I had a split boot. Pulled the joint, and trudged over to Autozone. I had already spoken to them to make sure that it was a warrantied item. At that time, they indicated that they no longer do remanufactured, only their own new joints, and that there was some sort of process to make adjustments in pricing, but it didn't effect me. Today, they started looking all of this up on the computer. When all was said and done, I walked out with a new Duralast Gold joint, and a refund of $141. Best I could understand, when I purchased, it was a much more expensive item, probably because they were fairly recent, and not a good supply of cores to redo. Basically, they refunded my full original purchase price of $237, and then charged me only $88.99 for the new joint. CHAAACHING!!! Damn near paid for my 883 springs that I was hesitant to tell my wife about!!!!!!

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Had some nice carpet left over from one of the houses I'm building. Decided to use it on the dog/fridge platform... instead of that cheap shit people use on speaker boxes. This ought to last longer with the doggo in the back.

Getting close to finishing up my drawers/dog platform. I've been working on it far to long and it's been sitting taking up room, so I finally got around to mounting it in the truck. Still need to add supports for the extensions and glue the rubber down. Also cut the back part and add a lock.

Cool deal. How is it so far work wise doing the gussets?

Have you done the bushings yet by chance? How'd the Whitelines come out? - Easily or difficult?

Fwiw I've been running a 4runner axle shaft on one side for about 10,000 miles without issue. The ebrake has to route slightly differently, but my plan is to swap to using only 4runner shafts since they're readily available at the junkyards near me. Literally $35 for the whole shaft and if a bearing goes bad I can change out the whole thing

battery is great! One of the photos is the part number for the new battery tray from Toyota, and I just sits there with 2 locating pins, just lift it out when you remove the battery

I just want to make sure I understand this, sorry if it's obvious.

when you say you have to route the ebrake differently, that's because you're running the axle shaft itself, as well as the backing plate from the 4Runner? Would the 4Runner axle itself fit into the Taco axle housing and backing plate (assuming of course, you pressed it out of the 4Runner assembly, etc. etc.)
