I guess this is one of those warranty stories. I had blinking orange AC light, did minir trouble shooting but have extended warranty so took to dealership. Apparently it was my AC compressor, so somewhat expensive job.

I'll only be paying for extra labor associated with taking supercharger off, etc. as they consider it aftermarket. It is a TRD SCer installed at dealership at like 700 miles on truck and had a warranty though. I might followup on that....

But regardless, everyone has their own warranty stories, pro's, con's, etc. I'm fanatical about them for peace of mind and I'm not mechanical. This is just one of those stories lol

So they recommend flushing the system, but said I could monitor, etc. Flushing is like $280 and not covered by warranty. Is it necessary? Thats a lot of money...

Also probably because its the temperature of the sun everywhere, the AC clutch assembly is on backorder... tear drop...

A flush is wise anytime the system is opened due to a component failure because of the risk of FOD. If they replace the compressor and dont flush, but instead just recharge, and it fails again soon after they may blame it on debris that was in the system from the previous compressor failure and not warranty the new compressor. In fact, I believe most compressor warranties are only intact if the system is flushed AND receiver/dryer is replaced with new. This should have been made clear to you before you agreed to replacement. Also, did they give you any troubleshooting info about how they determined it was the compressor? A flashing AC light could certainly be the result of a bad compressor, but it can also be the result of a bad AC clutch, or simply a corroded ground wire at the clutch. AC clutch labor is about 30 min for a dealer or familiar mechanic.

Curious as to why the SC has to come off. The A/C compressor is removed from below or through the driver's wheel well.

Honestly, they didn't give me much info ref. compressor. I read the numerous things it could be, but didn't know how to switch those relays people were taking about and figured the dealer would know.

Whether or not the AC conpressor was "really" the item, or dealer fluff, either way I figured I'd be getting a new one under warranty? Could they be lying?? Maybe? I don't know. Not mechanical.

So the super charger doesn't need to be removed for the conpressor and clutch assembly?

No need to remove the supercharger to remove the A/C compressor. They are fleecing you.

I replaced the compressor clutch on my supercharged 2013, the main blower you don’t have to touch, but I did have to remove the fan, fan shroud, and s/c belt tensioner to access the bolt on the clutch, if I remember correctly I had to remove one of the lower idlers for the s/c belt as well to access the serpentine belt tensioner.

Is there some Toyota verified place that I can see that you access compressor from below?

BTW did you get your front wheel bearings replaced yet? Check them for play and say they sound 'grindy' if they are covered...get a new set :) ...also check the steering linkage for rust...they crap out too (although you're in Florida? so no salt..)

As an update, they said the tensioner for the SC belt was in the way of removing the AC compressor.
