What’s the best flea treatment for a 6 week old pup?

 

Baths using dawn if they have fleas. I think most flea treatment isnt recommended for dogs that young. I think most say at least 12 wks old or something.

I had to take this pup out 7 or 8 times last night to potty, and she’s only 6 weeks old. Glad she lets me know when she needs to, but damn I’m tired today! Her bed last night was in a Plano storage tote beside the bed.

 

6 weeks? I thought the recommended age for taking a pup home was 8 weeks? Damn, that's a lot of times to pee. I'm exhausted just thinking about it. Cute little bugger.

 

do you tell her to sit and stay while you stop at burger king and get burgers for the dogs?

 

Our dog Trixie, She is almost 10 years old and have had her from 1.5 years old. Shelter pup.
Smartest dog ever. Does tricks, Great guard dog. Moms Therapy dog. She is a Chi Pin.
Part chihuahua and part miniture pincher.

 

8wks is typically the most commonly recommended. 6 weeks is the earliest they should ever be separated from their mom unless its a health related issue for either the mom or the pup. The pup typically requires a lot more work and isnt eating solid food yet if under 6 weeks..

 

We always had big shaggy dogs for many years and never really considered a smaller dog, before
Trixie came into our lives. Now she is such a part of the family no other animal could ever take her place.
A dog with short hair and a small stature is a blessing in so many ways. She does not eat too much,
Easy to bathe. She walks well on a leash, Can be picked up and handled easily if need be.
So smart you can tell she knows what your asking of her . If she passes away before I do My choice
for another dog would hands down again be a Min Pin Chihuahua mix breed.

 

I always thought it was at least 8 weeks, but she was 6 weeks and 1 day when we got her. She doesn’t like dry food unless it’s softened in water.

 

This is strictly based off what I've read, I'm no expert, I'm not a breeder, just a guy who enjoys rescuing dogs. @Kolunatic may know better on the subject since his wife does breed, theres proably others in the thread but hes the only one I can remember. From what I recall 6 weeks is ok just not ideal. A lot of breeders will wait until 8-10 weeks for the dog to get the more socialization from the litter and be good on solid food. I dont think theres much if any risk at 6 weeks but they miss out and its about the earliest they should be completely on dog food and off the mom. My older boy I was told was 8-10wks(rescued and turned 3yrs a month or 2 ago) and I had to soften his food with water because he wouldnt eat enough when I first got him. As he grew and I looked into it more I am confident that he was 6wks at the most when I got him. He was too small and wasnt good with solid dry food for a couple weeks. No biggie to me though. He needed a home since he was dropped off at a kill shelter and I was happy to get him from the rescue that saved him.

 

Yes my wife has bred, showed and judged for about 40 years. She doesn’t take pups anywhere or let anyone around the pups for about 8 weeks. I’d ask her but she’s not here atm

 

Many states have laws requiring the minimum age to transfer a puppy at 8 weeks. In California, where I live, you are prohibited from transferring a puppy less 8 weeks old unless you have authorization from a veterinarian
