If that's the case then I'll remove this seal. I don't want to deal with that hassle.

 

I have had those seals on my tailgate for about 4 years and it has never opened on its own.

Started working on a new drawer system built around our new fridge. Kinda rough considering I have no wood working skills. Lots of screws and titebond action going on.

 

That's my biggest point. Anything with a metal sleeve going into..a metal joint...bad idea.









And dog platforms all around! I also have been building one. Was going to do a taller one but whipped this up quick.

There is a lip on the back wall and the sheet of plywood rests there. Bolts to the seat bolts. Then the straps for the fridge do the rest. Works a treat and dogo loves it

Used a 1/2" rubber mat to cover it and provide grip. Simple and easy to take in and out and clean.






Went to the mountain to test it out and works great!

 

Yeah I would just take it on some rough road and see if it opens up on its own, odds are it won't, but mine does so just thought I'd point it out so you can keep an eye on it

 

loosened up the bumper bolts yesterday and fixed the alignment after hitting that deer the other night. not perfect but it'll do. I also fixed the antenna stud with a deadblow hammer. turns out it wasn't anything a little brute force and ignorance couldn't fix. Truck will look way better once i can get the replacement trim piece painted and installed. fixing it in the dorm parking lot sucked though!

Everyone hits deer here, good to get it out of the way early on. Doesnt look like you were going super fast so that helps.

Hopefully the next one isn't for a while.

 

Over the past week, I've replaced the exhaust manifold, water pump, thermostat, and fan clutch. Did a coolant flush and a can of Seafoam. ECU hasn't fully recalibrated after disconnecting the battery, but otherwise hasn't run this well in years.

 

Deer whistles??? or is it a myth...

 

I have had two types of experience with deer whistles. This was when I lived in WVa, and at the time deer were thicker than rabbits. If the deer were standing in a field or along the road grazing, it got their attention, and they would move away from the road, or at the least stand and stare at you. If the deer was alarmed and was running toward the road, even @BartMaster1234 's Cadillac horns blowing would not have deterred the deer.

 

Does someone have the McMaster part number for the bolts that work for our LBJs? Want to add those to my spare parts bucket. So far I have:

• Outer tie rods
• Inner tie rods
• Lower ball joints
• CV axle
• U bolts
• Misc bolts

Thinking about adding a starter and alternator to the list as well. Any other suggestions?

 

Yep. they've got some new dorms which i was initially hoping to end up in... but after seeing some friend's rooms i'm glad i ended up in Langford. the new dorms are nice but they don't seem very well put together.

Yep, so I'm told. a good friend of my aunt's has actually hit 4 or 5, two of which were in the same week! I was only going about 45 so that made a difference. if I was going 70 or 80 down hwy 191 or I-90 i'm sure it would have been a different story altogether. the bumper for sure saved the truck too. i might've been looking at $1500+ of damage were it not for the bumper. instead all i ended up with is a dented fender, an ill-fitting marker light, and a new headlight trim piece.

i've heard conflicting reports on them. from what I understand, the ones that work like dog whistles (operating at a frequency above or below what humans can hear) don't really work since deer hear basically the same frequencies as humans. basically if we can't hear it they can't either. for the time being i'm just going to keep my eyes peeled... that and stay off backroads when possible around dusk and nighttime.
