GOD...don't remind me of 1WD near that obsticle. Last time we went there, this Jeep had broken its rear pinion and front axel and it was 1WD. Those fuckers didn't let anyone pass. They had to winch/drag that thing out of there, but they made sure everyone suffered just like they were.

Damn, that's unfortunate. We're pretty lucky that Ferny's front end started spinning again, since I had no idea how I was going to get my truck up Gauntlet. They added an anchor point about half way up, but even then I can only do so much on 33s, a rear locker, and dual cases. If I had 35s and a front locker, I'd probably walk right up Gauntlet.

Just learn to live off Top Ramen and warm beer. It works perfect once you get used to it.

My Dusy trip looks like it fell through this year. It's such a rad trail. I might try and get a few rigs together late season if I can knock out this damn kitchen remodel. It's cold as shit at night but I can't not do that trail every year.

I don't know man...I got 35's and front locker too. I tried going up few times and on both side, but kept slipping. Only couple of Jeep with 35's were able to make it through, but rest of them had to winch. I think the key factor is how slow you can crawl without slipping and how much flex you got. Both of the Jeeps that made it through had crazy amount of flex, LS engines, and front lockers.

I can definitely see where a lot of flex would be helpful, but I think that would only really make a the biggest difference if you take an left as soon as you climb up the first rock ledge. I could go around that and make a 18 point turn to get a better angle for the last section up top.

Most of the people who went up that obstacle climbed on left hand side and when they got to the top of that rock, turned right, and then left.

Oh, by the way, when I tried climbing from right hand side, I kept sliding and getting close to that tree. I know I know...long bed problems.

Yeah, that was happening to Ferny. He ended up being able to get up the left line with a bit of throttle.

The only good photos I have are from 2 years ago and the obstacle has completely changed from my photos of the obstacles. Someone else might have photos of Ferny going up? @otis24 @betterbuckleup @rob1208 ?

In essence, it's a small rock garden at the bottom followed by a 3' ledge that either leads you into a sharp left hand turn with another 3' ledge you need to climb, or you can go to the right and take a wider angle that could also have you roll into a tree if you go too far right. It's then just a very steep climb into another rock garden, but you can't go in-between the rocks unless you want to cave in your doors, so up and over a rock the size of a smart car it is.

I think @otis24 took some good videos iirc. I have some a couple photos and one video, but none of it really does it justice or puts it into perspective.

@Don5352 at about the 10min mark in this video is gauntlet

Definitely a lot different now mid last year. That bottom garden + left hand turn (if going up) is ngarly now. Didn’t get many pics but here’s a few:

Main trail just after the bottom rock garden and left turn when @Fernando put the truck in 1wd and went full send, got stuck, then unstuck

Basically non-existent. I think air quality the whole weekend was under 100.

We were originally gonna go to eagles, but decided against because the smoke was much worse there. Was pretty clear down where we were compared to everywhere else.
