All the more reason to put in new speakers and turn it up! It would be quieter if you didn't drive so fast. :boink:

Joking aside, 3 decibels is pretty significant. Unfortunately, it seems like a lot of the noise is coming from above. Is it possible to remove the headliner and cover the roof?

295's on stock gears? how long have you been running them? Any issues, other than sluggishness?

1)I did sound deaden the roof. Dynamat and foam.
    2) I can’t not drive fast. It’s impossible. We actually wrote it into our wedding vows. I would save my wife from spiders and she would tolerate my driving!
    3) I may get new speakers and just turn it up!
4)295/75r16s are theoretically 33.4” where as 285/75r16 are 32.8. So not much difference really. Sluggish and a bit more hunting to keep me at my happy 8 over the speed limit.

You're still 2.4 inches over stock on those tires, mate

I didn't notice the roof in the pictures. Hopefully the doors and speakers do enough to make it worthwhile.

I was curious because I had almost gone with 295's. The thing that actually turned me off to them was the extra cutting and trimming. I'm still thinking about doing it the next time I buy tires. I'm not bothered by the sluggishness with 285's, so I'm sure I could tolerate a size up. Do you tow with it at all?

8 over?? Last year I was going 10 over on the way to Chicago and you caught up like I was standing still!:rofl::rofl:

I don’t tow on the regular and likely never will. I did tow a 6x12 uhaul trailer across the country with the 295s so :notsure:. It’s sluggish. When I go to 35s I will regear.

And sometimes... maybe I drive a bit faster.

Yup. I ran my truck stuck for a year all over Colorado and New Mexico. I enjoyed it. But my proper lift and bigger tires (And armor) is worth the loss in mpg and increase in noise to me.

Agreed. On 32s and all armor (except a front bumper) at the moment

    3" lift? A.R.E cap 285/70/17 moto metal 955 17x9

    Looking at the driveway pic,

first idea ,turn the traction boards 90* ;less wind
    second, flip shovel 180*

Didn't see an air dam on the front rack, but maybe see about getting one for the rear one.

Air between the cab and box with or without cap should be coming up from under truck.

I meant to try the drive home without the maxtrax but forgot. I will try it later. We have a system with them, the gun case. The other box and the kayaks when we travel, so I’ll have to play around with their placement. I can try flipping the shovel. Never crossed my mind but with a try. And I do have the standard air dam on the rack. It’s ok. Their upgrade is expensive. I was thinking about making my own with sheet metal and a few brackets. But that’s been on my mind either way. Thanks for the ideas

It's open as far as the Forest Service knows. There is a section closed near Bro rock.

Nobody did the rocks. I'm waiting for a gas tank skid before I try it.

Well when I ran the rocky hill (downhill) I never hit sliders or bumpers. I did bang up the skids and LCAs a little bit. I’m not sure your fuel tank is really in any danger, its tucked pretty high up. Gravity makes it a bit easier downhill. I probably won’t have a chance to try again, but uphill seems a lot harder since some of the rocks move.
