Negative, it’ll be in the bios software (I think), on intel machines it’s called “XMP profile” but I forget what it’s called in the Ryzen MoBo’s

I just vfc ame across this thread. I have a question and maybe you pc builders can help out. My laptop harddrive was full of memory and I wasnt able to log on my computer. So I replaced my hd with an sshd, works damn great after I got that and installed windows 10 I got a disk caddy to put in place of the cd drive to utilize that space better with my old hd. Problem is I still cant access the HD. It gives an error saying "the parameter is incorrect", any help on how to recover the data from my old harddrive?

Ryzen, yes. AMD is absolutely crushing Intel right now, more cores for less bucks. Their CPU’s love faster memory but just go with whatever you feel comfortable with paying for, 3200 was the sweet spot when I built mine a couple years ago

I'm sure these days they all offer it make sure they can connect to your pc and perform clean/smart shutdowns. It's a nice feature to have for servers so after say 3 minutes of being on ups power it'll shutdown.

In general Ryzen is the way to go. I'd wait a few more months for the next generation to come out personally. Either the 3000 series will drop in price or pick up the new stuff. Intel really is only good for certain use cases these days

Back in the day it wasn’t to hard. No clue how it is with the new computers. My 3770k was pretty simple to overclock with the bios

Should be a button right on the main page. Turn XMP/AMP to on. It's really simple.

As others have said, in general Ryzen is the way to go.

Keep in mind AMD has promised to release their next gen Zen 3 chips before the end of this year, so if you want the best bang, for buck you may want to wait for those chips to drop.

Intel can be slightly fast at 1080P on Esports titles but the rumor is that PCI-E 3.0 won't be able to handle the data rate from the new 3080/3090 GPUs that are launching right away. So it's really hard to make a recommendation now to go Intel even for pure gaming.

If you're on AMD there really isn't much point in overclocking. In general you gain less than 5% over the PBO settings on your MB. Best to just enable PBO with 3600 mhz ram and forget about it.

Intel still makes sense to overclock from a performance perspective but now with Intel actively telling overclockers that overclocking voids there warranty it would be a hard pass for me. Tough to tell someone to overclock something when Intel won't warranty it. AMD is still unofficially supporting both CPU and Ram overclocking from what the forums are saying.

I really want to have a smaller pc too. The towers just taking up to much space. The node 202 is what I’m looking at for the new build. But some of those boutique small small cases are tempting too. 2 NVME 2tb drives will cover what I need (pricey I know, but my PCs last me a long time)

Yup. Microsoft used go do this back in the day too. They built flight sim at high resolution and ultra settings for PC's in the future and not today.
