    I haven't seen any 4.7 blowing personally.

But I used all of my slow crawl ratio all the time for the heck of it, lol. Why not.

I had a few buddies have blown 4.7s. All their rigs were well over 6k pounds. I presume it's a weight thing since most rigs around the 4/5k mark seem to have little issues with them.

I too am guilty of using the double low just cause people told me I should.

I'd wait until next year to run Rubicon. It was super busy when I tried to run to the top of Cadillac Hill the other day.

I recall seeing that craigslist ad for $1500 in the bay area. For that price, you can piece together a used 2.28 unit with new TG adapter and MC total spline for less. Or piece together a unit using new MC 4.7 gears with new TG adapter to a used top shift case for roughly $1600 or so. For a few hundred buck more, I rather go with 4.7s then the 2.28. Not sure how much OP end up paying, but was listed for $1500, which IMO is overpriced for a used 2.28 setup, that's why I said to passed. Plus if OP were to later on add 4.7 (TG or MC) it'll put him closer to the range of buying a new fully assembled crawlbox, granted if he paid $1500 for it. I guess my theory is, everything will be new, including the coupler and seal, plus not abused yet by someone else.

Anyway, an extra 2.28 is better then not having it while crawling...

    Happy trailing.

I told @Fernando in a PM that was a fair deal. Not great and I was also assuming it had twins or triples. For what he paid for a fully assembled box with a stock case attached to I think is fair. He didn't get ripped off but he didn't get a great deal either.

I was referring more to the 2.28 comment though. Are you manual or auto? I feel like I've said this 1000 times in the past week. If you are manual 4.7's are a must. If you are auto 2.28's are the way to go. In an auto the torque converter effectively doubles the final crawl ratio. That's why my 2.28 lo/lo is just as slow as my buddies manual with his 4.7 lo/lo. I'm not talking theory here. I'm talking real world wheeling on the same trails, same obstacles, and same lines.

    Cant wait for triple sticks.

FML this weekend. 3 wheel motion. Rear driver axle is fucked. Put some new grocery store dents on the driver and passenger side. Front end took a nice beating too
