Some interior modifications I’ve been doing of late. I have more paint coming in tomorrow to finish out the steering wheel trim and the climate control area

I've been used to a constant power outlet in my previous vehicle. It drives me nuts that I can only charge with the truck on or running. I'd love to have a USB port that's always got power up front. Is there a post with some details and instructions here?

Yes. Typically can find a Pro owner that wants to go to Kings or ADS shocks and sell their Pro Fox for $1200-1600. Gives you 1” lift up front and much better ride IMO. Kings or ADS are usually $3k or so. You can go Bilstein 5100’s for about the same as the Fox Pro’s. I prefer the ones that Toyota spent millions (with Fox) to tune specifically for the Tacoma as I don’t do anything radical, mostly use 4wd to access fishing or camping areas.

I used the ktjo4x4 kit myself. Ordered it before I saw that there may have been a problem with ktjo4x4 here on TW, but kit came quickly and as advertised, so it was a win for me. Only point of confusion is I thought it would come (didn't read quite close enough I guess) with the Toyota 400w outlet. It didn't. Had to order that separately after I'd received the kit. You would need to add that as a option to the kit. Ford has a comparable outlet available easily, but it's rated at 150w only, and will not plug into the ktjo4x4 kit.

A little more costly than just winging it, cutting and splicing, and wiring it up, but the plug and play kit worth it to me, as anytime I can avoid cutting or tapping into factory wiring (and easily return everything back to stock configuration if desired), it's a plus for me. Plug and play (other than running wire for the 24/7 usb and 12v cig lighter outlet) to the blue sea auxiliary fuse block under the hood.

The old Tacoma (1st gen), I just jumped out a relay. New Tacoma (3rd gen) requires pulling a board and soldering a jumper to keep outlets powered up all the time. Wasn't willing to do that. Could have pulled the dash and console apart and just wired those outlets to an always on 12v source, but also wanted an inverter outlet in the cab, and some usb charging in the back seat, so this set up covered all the bases without cutting or splicing any factory wiring.

Based on some quick searching, it looks like this mod will run about $120 or so for all the parts needed. Is that about right?

For the cig lighter and usb's.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GPJ9WCC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Plenty of like options available depending on what you want.

For the plug and play harness:

    https://www.ktjo4x4.com/product/toy...er-outlet-plug-n-play-wire-harness/30?cs=true

Ran 14ga wire from auxiliary fuse block under the hood to cig / usb's. All connections crimped, soldered, heat shrinked, and run in plastic wire harness tubing.

You could tap in off a constant 12v source from the fuse block using "add-a-fuse" tap as well, but I set myself up with the blue sea auxiliary fuse block when I added the switchpros, so now that that is in, it is making my life easy.

Sounds about right. A little pricey, but that will get you the Toyota 400w outlet, and the plug and play harness so you don't have to cut / tap factory wiring. Even though I've got the ability to do wiring well, it was worth it for me to not have to mess with it and cut / tap into factory wiring. Others mileage may vary!

You could do this for about $50 all in for outlets and wiring, but then you're spending more time doing so (and cutting a factory wire or two, using an add-a-fuse tap, which I'm never too keen on if I can help it). And then if you like soldering all your connections as I do, add some more time on top of it all.

With the electrical gremlins that come with these new trucks and their computers, proven plug and play is the way to go and worth it, IMO.
