Yeah my wife looked at me like I was up to something when I pulled my haro out of the garage and started stripping it down, and then cleaning the frame and lubing everything as i reassembled it again. She said I should just get rid of that old pos, to which I quickly replied, "this old pos is almost older than you!" Once i had it back together and the tires pumped up I was trying to whip it around in the driveway and ate shit pretty good. She yelled out the window "quit being stupid and you better not break a hip". I yelled back, "I'm 37, not 67!" lol

Her brother also had a couple haros when we were younger, I say a couple because my wife rode his bike to the store one day and when she came out, it was gone. My bike was actually stolen about 3wks after I bought it, someone pryed my u-lock off of it while I was in school. Fortunately I didnt live too far from school, and it was a sad walk home, until I saw my bike sitting on the front step of an older kids house who lived between my parents house and the school. I ran to my buddies house just down the street and we were able to get the sheriff to come, and I got it back + extra. The sheriff asked how I was certain it was mine, and I told him Im the only one that has a haro in town, while the kid was claiming he just bought it but couldnt provide a receipt or even come up with a correct bike shop that sold haros at the the time. The serial number on the frame was probably the first thing besides my home phone number that I memorized by 10yrs old. The kid had used a pry bar and managed to dimple the frame and he was ordered to pay me restitution for the damage by a judge since he ended up being charged with possession of stolen property and destruction of property. It was pretty much a win win for me.

I took a browse through eBay for anything Haro, granted the prices I saw on some things are just asking prices, and not what they are actually selling for, but original complete group 1 Haros not even mint condition are listed anywhere from $800 up to $1600!!?? WTH?

Like I said, big money. Prices this year really jumped a lot..bikes in general are popular with Covid19. With Ebay too you never know when the buyer might welch out as well..

This thread makes me sad/mad! My Redline MXII was lost in time when I moved out. Built in the early 80s always was looking for the latest upgrades to put on it. Always kept in perfect condition. Would be worth a pile of cash now but probably wouldn’t be able to let it go:(

Time to buy another..I relate, my first Schwinn Predator was my baby but it got stolen long ago. I did buy one a couple of years ago and restore it.

My CW and Diamondback were sold long ago I recently found these tucked away. I must have drilled the number plate for the Potts Mod

Talking about prices.......I’ve seen 2 82-83 Profile Champ frames on eBay over the last couple of years. Mine is a 82. They were both at 2k........

Missed this thread. Did a little racing but mostly flat land freestyle back in the early 80's thru mid 90's. Bikes varied from a Schwinn predator, GT, Haro, CW racing, Redline (that was blue) and a few others. Did buy a Redline D606 a few years back just because / memories of good times.

    I'll leave this here.

Noooooooooo, that Haro is not scrap! It is rather rusty though.:(

Looks like it hasn't been riden in almost a decade.

I imagine lots have been lost to scrap. Probably enough to make certain people mad. Most “normal” people have no idea what things are worth. Someone might chunk a bike because it hasn’t been used in a while or a skateboard because it’s old and looks like crap, both easily worth $2k a piece.

Anytime I see anything like that in a trash pile it gets my attention. Haven’t found a treasure yet but it’ll happen.

That signature kink top tube drew my attention right away, and then I had to look for the Haro name on the down tube, and vaguely made it out with the red and the rust contrasting. I'd go get it, but it's about an hour away from me, and it's a lot someone just purchased and is trying to give away the previous owners junk collection they have now inherited. They also won't be on site until tomorrow while I'm at work. :(
