What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

So my youngest daughter and I love to ride. But sometimes we like to pack the bikes to locations that aren't near by. I got tired of laying down the bikes in the bed or trying to stand them up with straps.

So I priced some bike racks. Nope...I'm a cheap ass. Not spending that kind of money. So I made my own. Got less than $30 into it...as the screws and stain I already had.



Some Cabot black stain and some stainless steel eyelets. It won't stay in the bed all the time. But I wanted to make it at least somewhat weather resistant.



It's locked in place behind the tie-downs.

 

Looks awesome! That’s impressive having the idea to lock it in behind the tie downs.

 

They are just bad on take offs and cornering. But only if you are being aggressive. I drive my truck pretty hard and envision an F1 course at every roundabout. I just have to remind myself to slow down a bit when its raining. Great tires in the snow too. Throw 4WD on and it goes where you point it. Only thing that would stop it would be to belly up.

Pulled my decked system and listed it on fb marketplace.


Installed my custom made cargo glide. Bought it for a long bed shortened it for a short bed.

 

Installed the TRD cat back exhaust to replace my rusted factory muffler

 

Ya I've watched it a couple of times already to prepare. Luckily I'll have some help if planning works out. Then I get to save for new LCAs. Then I can save for a new mod

Thanks. Took it out on it's maiden voyage earlier. Highway and city driving. The bikes were solid. Nothing moved....even in tight turns.

Yesterday, I finally got around to installing my Power Stop new front rotors and brake pads. My stock units had just over 100,000 miles on them and probably could have gone another 20,000. My stock rotors were still smooth but I wanted to upgrade anyway. I sprayed the stock rotors down with some Liquid Wrench and will hang them in my shop in case of an emergency. In a few years, I'll probably take them to the recycler.
Surprisingly, all of the stock hardware was in pretty good shape. I used the new cross pins from the kit but used my stock retainer springs to double up and the stock retainer clips as well.
My stock brakes were great so I can't really tell a difference yet, and yes, I did bed them. We'll see how they are doing in another month or two but they look great.

 

I was looking back at these posts and had another question. Our Pelreybilt high clearance bumpers have a rating of 6500?

 

yes they do, i remember that specifically.

 

It's getting there. Still a lot of work to do. Wish I had a garage.

This is a Kenwood DDX5707S WITH FOCAL 165AS SPEAKERS and sounds amazing!!!

 

Need some suggestions for a steering rack upgrade. tundra rack? Full hydro? Stock rack with upgraded bushings?

 

Finally got the coverkings delivered and installed today, not sure how impressed I am with the fit, they look decent tho
