I think these "keep it small" covid weddings are going to help people buy houses...It SUCKS for people who make money on weddings...but for those who are in that let's spend $10-15K on a...dare I say "Smaller" wedding that instead just do the quick and easy...that money goes towards a house.
My wife and I had a 5K budget...and we pulled it off for 83 people...with a buffet! Just have to find the right places...saved our money for a house...

yeah we'd rather spend the money on the honeymoon. the biggest expense we had was our hotel room. it was a nice low stress weekend, and we got to spend a lot of time with our guests

Congratulations, I think that's the way to go!

My girlfriend's sister got married in July and only had about 12 of us. Very casual, small thing.

Agreed. We also did it all in 3 months. We started looking at venues in April '16 expecting to look for fall '16 at the earliest, likely into '17 but, we figured we could pull it off in 6 months.

We found a kick ass venue, they had one option for a Saturday in fall '16. September 11. OR July 9th was available! With is so close, the venue was discounted. Turns out - 3 months (closer to 2, since it was mid to late April, and our date was 9 July) is awesome. You know how people spend hours discussing which color or flowers or whatever? NOPE. You have 2 minutes, choose now! And we were happy with it, loved it. Also turns out, a lot of wedding stuff does discounts if it's coming up soon, because otherwise they have no work! Either they're busy and can't do it, or cheap because they're trying to fill a gap. DJ, flowers, cake, everything was awesome.

Rained anyway. We were only attached for 2 months, if we had spent a year or more planning this wonderful outdoor ceremony and all that, we'd have been wicked pissed if it rained. Instead, roll with it, was still awesome.

yeah if it had been bigger i'm sure i would have stressed out a ton. we planned everything in about 2 months. no flowers, no music, just ceremony, dinner, and brunch. the only bummer was that for dinner there were too many people to sit at the same table. but we were still able to move around and socialize. so it really didn't make sense hahaha

Hey by the way, sorry your wedding had to be during this. Glad it was still good, but I'm sorry you had to have it with whatever weird stuff you had to deal with.

it's all good. there were minor inconveniences with people being short staffed, and not replying quickly. but other than that it was pretty seamless

Honestly that sounds nice. Then the "well you know you really should invite your cousins 3rd ex-boyfriend because they invited you to their wedding" nonsense from parents. I also don't like people, so that's a plus too.

Hey Rebecca @DoubleRGirl in all seriousness a huge congratulations to you guys! I know we have talked about it before and it sounds like you had just the kind of wedding that you wanted!
For those of you that haven't met or gotten to know Rebecca, I just wanted to say it couldn't have happened to a nicer person. She set me a text the other day of my daughter and her doing selfies from 4 years ago.
So a sincere congratulations to you Rebecca! I hope you guys grow old and grey together! Lol...

I know so many people that had large weddings and swear it wasn't worth it afterwards. One friend said she might have had 2 bites of her meal and didn't remember much b/c she had to go around talking to everyone.

Can always have a small party after. We were going to do that after we ran off to Vegas (just us 2, we invited our parents but they didn't go)..would have just been a cookout at her parents' house with a huge yard. Never happened b/c her mom's health declined rapidly but don't matter..

Amen. We did the whole shebang, but we are also a party oriented family, we've been pulled aside at weddings since and told under hushed tones "this wedding doesn't hold a candle to yours", etc etc. we've set a benchmark. We also got married at 23, so we set that bar high real early with our friends, poor bastards. So we did the venue dinner hotel etc etc, I think we had 75 people? All of it was a blast, if we had to do it again - I wouldn't change anything, yeah tents and etc are cool, we paid a bit more for the venue, but everything was included. No tents, no other arrangements, no hassle. Worked out pretty good. Then sat on a beach in the caribbean for 10 days drinking rum runners, eating french bread and relaxing. I can do a 3-5 day beach vacation, after that bring on the hike in the jungle or something, but honeymoon we did 10 days of f-all and it was awesome.

A party of Tacoma owners? That sounds like the best and worst party ever

Just ordered 10lb clover seed. Dropping it mid September, the front lawn needs some recovery baaaad and I hope the clover does the trick into next year. Back yard is just needed in some spots so I'll probably do a strong seed up front and just a normal overseed out back. I figure that should take about 5-7 lbs, 1/3 acre plot size w/ 1200sqft house and 3 car drive + some planter beds. Hope the neighbors don't mind a little bit of clover :D :D I'll probably talk to them, if they want I can set up a short fence to try to contain it on that side.

Eh, nieces and nephews are more fun..or more paws in the house as well.

Oh man can you imagine if we had done a TW ride by that day? Bwahahaha

We took the jump at 30 and 43 respectively. I'd never been to Vegas before so we got there and did it middle of the week.
