With the majority of folks voting to skip the camping trip this year, I was going to cancel. A few guys PM'd about still wanting to go, so we decided to have a small outing. The forest service cancelled my reservation, so we just wung it.

We hit the Pipeline this morning, and putzed around until around 4PM. Highlights included me getting buried in the mud, numerous bro shots for the Instagram, and randomly meeting @Tcheung808 on the trail. He and his wife joined us for the remainder of our shenanigans and dinner.

    Overall, a great day!

A little of both. While the Toyos aren't really mud tires, I probably could have made it with a little momentum.

I tried to stay out of the ruts and creep through. I ended up sliding in and was basically up to the axles in sticky heavy mud.

I might have made it through if I had gotten a running start and stayed on the gas. Instead we cleared some dead wood that was blocking a dryer path and went around the deeper mud.

At least we got to use @WiscoPat 's Bubba Rope :)

I would have done the same - better to take it slower at first than discover hidden logs or rocks at speed.

Tried digging out and traction boards, but got the rope in play when that failed. Good times!

I went an checked out the Mountain fire tower today after packing up. 133 steps. It wasn't bad, but I'm still not sure why I grabbed a beef-stick to eat on the way up rather than something to drink.

Where do you take your truck in Hayward? I snowmobile and 4 wheel there but have never seen a truck anywhere but the road.

Who's got the digital camo Tacoma? I saw him on I94 West when I was coming back from my folks place on I94 East. I figured he was a member on here.

Funny story. We were out on the trails and came across this Tacoma going through the mud pit. It's @tcheung808, a long time lurker in Tacoma world. Just a random meeting. Him and his wife decided to join us for the rest of the day.

To add to what @rockindoc75 said, his Tacoma started out white. He's doing the paint himself a little at a time. It's bed liner. Looks fucking awesome!

Plus he's lifted 6" on 35's. Super cool people!

Nice, thanks. I was up that way last time I was there. Grabbed lunch at Sawmill on our way to Lakewoods and Garmisch. But we were on the SxS.

my maxtrax are awesome, those look to not be working so well. I can't tell if they aren't shoved in far enough or there just isn't enough lug on them to grab.

They weren't shoved in far enough. I didn't dig down under the tires enough. The Maxsas are supposed to be the next best things to MaxTrax. There's a lot of good feedback.

Yeah, like I said, they're not mud tires. They're supposed to be good in the mud for an AT. But, as I said before, I approached the mud slowly because I didn't want to find a boulder hiding in there and break something.

Aside from that, I might have gotten through or gotten out by shutting off traction control and giving it more gas. I just figured the rope was the easiest way to get out.

At that point, we wanted to get through with minimum chance of anyone else getting stuck. Which is why we went around instead if through the mud.
