Not an SAE light pod, but KC just unveiled their new Flexera 3 'pod' light available in combo and spot. Very unique looking product with swappable lenses and an amber backlight which seems to be becoming more common. It is always great to see new unique lighting products coming to market.

Hi everyone, wondering if you could help me out.

My car uses a fog light bracket that is unsupported by Diode Dynamics. Since the oem bracket width is wider than the ss3 fogs, do you think I could use an extended 4mm hex screw to secure it in place?

TooStroked and crashnburn80: "Diode Dynamics has driving light bars which are popular to mount in the lower grill opening." sounds like that easier and brighter method, I'll look into that - thank you both for your time !!!

Yes they do. I have one in my truck and am very happy with it. Combine it with their SAE Pro fogs and the Ultimate Headlight Upgrade and it just doesn't get any better than that!

Hey hit u up on the caliraised bracket thread. So I’m looking into doing something similar like the DD SS3 pro yellow fogs as well. You’d recommend driving pattern for the light bar and fog pattern for the fogs right ? I’ve heard amazing things about Diode dynamics and wanna be part of the fam

If the pod body cleared the OEM bracket, you could try. You'd probably need some some extra nuts on the bolt inside the bracket to apply friction force to the side of the pod housing to keep it in place so it doesn't rotate, you might have to get a little creative. The pod bracket presses the bracket housing up against the side of the pod which prevents it from rotating.

Yes, driving pattern for the light bar and fog for the fogs. You would want to consider a combo bar if your primary use is going to be off road where you want to see things in close proximity to the truck, such as possibly wooded trails at night or forest service roads. The fogs can help with that to a degree, through they are not flood lights like the combo bar. For best distance vision at night, you want to limit foreground light and you'll get higher intensity distance light using those two sections of the bar for driving lights instead.

Yes, I'd recommend the best stuff you can buy in both patterns - but each for a different use. The DD SAE fogs are currently the best you can get and they work great for illuminating the sides of the road and a bit out front for driving in nasty weather. Although not recommended, you can drive with them on whist on the road and if properly aimed, not bother oncoming drivers. I chose the Selective Yellow because it penetrates snow and fog better, but the Clear versions are pretty sweet too.

I use the high beams and the DD 30" Stage Series LED bar (I have the bar wired through a relay to come on automatically with the high beams) for long distance vision. Because the DD bar is so powerful, I'd recommend the all Driving pattern over the Combo. And trust me, this bar absolutely blows away all cheap Amazon bars as well as the Caliraised dual row bar it replaced. As with any high beam or LED bar, you don't want to use it when any oncoming drivers are near. Proper aim is critical with any long distance lighting and it took me a few tries to get this one right.

As for the Ultimate Headlight Upgrade, it will give you killer low beam performance without bothering oncoming drivers. On high beam, it will significantly improve your distance vision. Put all three of these together and it's an awesome combination. Here's what all three look like on my truck:

    CaliRaised hidden light bar brackets.

I see you are in Bothell, I'm down the street in north Kirkland. I have a spare set of those CaliRaised brackets if interested. PM me.

Does 3 inches mean it includes the outer plastic bezel or diagonally across just the led portion.

3" is the approximate width of the lens portion. Here's what you're looking for as it relates to those flush mount ones you have listed.

I bought the offroadtown led pods mentioned here, with a set of @caliraised led brackets, thanks caliraised for the awesome brackets! Perfect fit, easy to install. Great cutoff line on these pods.
Pictures are with halogen bulbs in headlights:
LED pods only, pods with low beam, pods with high beam. And low/high for reference.

Lol, dont mind the dirty ol mutt. She's just been enjoying the mud left by the hurricane.20200830_201641.jpg

I accidentally looked into those pods once, I couldn't see out of one of my eyes for an hour. So if your dog acted strangely afterward, you know why.

GREAT THREAD! I learned a LOT

New to TW - picked up a used 2017 TRD Sport back in March and am now looking to do some upgrades.
Ditch lights will be next, but for now I figured I'd start simple and replace the fogs. Spent 3 or 4 hours last night on this thread and made my decision: KC G4s. Seem like the safest bet for a factory bumper and a guy who doesn't know one end of a screwdriver from the other.

Still unsure about white/amber, but probably amber. (Read that thread, too). Had amber PIAAs on my old JK and liked the color.

Thanks to @crashnburn80 for all the work on this. really helpful.

BTW, does any know if there are any sales or coupons available?

The KC G4s are great option for 5000k. If wanting amber though, I'd consider the Diode Dynamics SS3 in selective yellow instead. Selective yellow is far brighter and offers better contrast than amber, and still has the benefits of long wavelength light for poor weather use.
