2 inch leveling kit, 17" Procomp Wheels, 265/70r17 Toyo AT3s
Hi. Im new here, so forgive me if this has been answered already. After countless google searches and no real answer, I've decided to turn to the pros. I've recently leveled my Taco, a 2 inch leveling spacer kit in the front, installed pro comp 17 inch wheels and new 265/70r17 Toyo AT3 tires. The wheels are the 97 series with a 4.5 backspacing, and I had to use 1.25 spacers to clear the calipers.

    My question is this:

After the install, I waited about a week and had it aligned. Now, at around 50 mph or so, I get speed wobble. I've read that spacers can exaggerate pre-existing problems, but the truck only has 12k on her. Could the problem be improperly balanced tires, bad alignment, or bent rims? I bought the rims used, but wouldn't the tire shop know if they're bent when installing new tires?

If any of you kind hearted, like minded Taco lovers have suggestions or solutions, please help!!! Im worried to death about damaging any major components on my truck due to the ever loathed "death wobble".

The death wobble only occurs on trucks with solid front axle, so you are fine. But you should definitely find the source of the vibration. Checking the wheel balance is a good place to start. You can also put on some different wheels if you have any, and see if it goes away. Good luck!

No death wobble there, just something wrong.
Step 1... move rear tires and wheels to front. Did that move the vibration? If yes, take to tire shop. If no, start checking suspension parts. Easy peasy.

    Canada Eh!

Swap your front wheels/tires to rear and see if the vibration changes. If the vibration is more in the steering wheel, than the issue is with the front tires/wheels. If it’s less in the steering wheel and more in the seat that it’s the rear tires.

If the vibe doesn’t change at all, than it’s not tire/wheel related. Start with that.
