When I was in high school I took my dad’s Plymouth Valient with slant 6 engine and removed two nuts holding the connection between exhaust manifold and pipe. Wedged a chisel in there for instant exhaust cutout. Very loud I was the baddest MF in town. Get you some.

Everyone be hating on clapping out your truck but you wanna add some wheel spacers on highway tires and get a spacer lift. Make sure you drive on bald tires too

The older you get the more you will appreciate silence. Would like to figure out how to make my truck silent, much more difficult than making it sound like a wet fart.

Long story, my dads freind just bought the new corvette. He is the nicest man ik, and he knew I worked 8 hours a day over break trying to buy my dream truck which is a 03-07 Silverado, and he had his old Tacoma that has almost 300k on it and has a lot of problems with it that I’m working on fixing. The KBB value of the truck with all the problems was about a grand, and he was really nice and decided to give it to me for 100$. I’ve payed for every cent I’ve done to the truck, and it sure as hell ain’t much but at least it’s mine lol

Reminds me of pulling the family Chevy Impala over to side of road to flip the air intake lid upside down.

BOy that was a good sounding motor....but had to remember to flip it back around before you drove up the parents lane.

    My back glass feels offended

It is yours. Don't get a large lift until you've got the problems sorted. Lifts cause more issues, esp anything over 2.5 inches.

These trucks are tough as nails if you keep em oiled and the bolts torqued down.

Is this kind of like those vehicles you see with the wheels tilted in? I mean who does that and thinks it’s good for the suspension parts

I completely agree, which is why I put in the caveat of a highly tuned exotic 6 cylinder sounding good.

265/75R16 Wildpeak AT3W, Softopper, Kicker speakers, shift knob, Ventvisors, Tint, Husky Weatherbeaters, Hondo Garage radio knobs. The to do list: Bilstein 6112/5160, 3 leaf add-a-leafs, lights, alu skid, PRP seat covers...
Don't do spacer lift. Get Bilstein 5100s. The truck needs new shocks anyways and it'll ride better than blocks on 300k mile struts. There's a ton of threads on it. Prob cost $360ish and get you that 2" of front lift in the process and the rears would accommodate 1-2" blocks. If you need new leafs/front springs cause they are tired you can find 3rd gen take offs in the buy sell section/craigslist for cheap. We're talking front springs/struts, rear leafs and shocks for a couple hundred bucks.

Basically anything that says "Rough Country" is absolute junk and only sold to make a quick buck. It ain't worth it.

Like he said, plenty of take offs esp from 3rd gens here that you can get for cheap, if not free

Hwut in the hail? Someone gave up 6" of bed space for that?!

100LL isn't exactly a performance fuel. Older engines do love the lead in it though. I run a bit through my old Jeep every now and then to burn out the gunk building up from the corn gas.

Good deal and good on ya for taking the responsibility for it up yourself. Take care of it and it'll take care of you. There isn't much you can't learn about your truck on this website. Use the search bar first and if you can't find what you're looking for, just ask.

This is a solid plan for lifting your truck without compromising ride quality, OP. It may not touch the sky but it'll look good and ride nice.

Agreed. Rough Country is cheap for a reason. Do your homework before you spend your hard earned cash, OP.

    Welcome to TW.

Nice! It is a lot of miles but I’ve seen people claim a lot more so hopefully it will run awhile.
