obviously this is all assumption but I could see them doing something like what ram did with the electric assist. Either way whether go v6 turbo or hybrid I think either will be a big leap from where the tundra currently sits.

There is nothing to disclose. If you swapped a panel for aesthetics that isn’t a wreck or something due to body damage. They sign the paperwork at sale that indicates they would’ve inspected the vehicle. It’s on them after that. Just like when you buy a car at a used dealer, as soon as you sign those papers as a buyer it’s on you in most states where the “as is” law prevails.

it would be like disclosing you swapped an interior piece or the stereo out. Or as in my case sending an email to confirm it was fine and getting a response that it was fine.

I’m totally okay with that. Looks will be a big part for me. I remember reading an auto engineer on here formerly saying the same thing and saying same for Tacoma which based on all the hybrid intersection surveys they sent me makes sense.

I ended up finally selling my 2017 TRD Off Road 4x4 MT because the market adjustment was so high and we got a lot of good use out of it before moving to a house in the suburbs a few months ago. I downsized to a 2009 Mustang Bullitt for the foreseeable future, but now I have useless truck accessories taking up space tempting me to buy another one.

Anyone sold with their aftermarket radio?

I have a great android radio that performs and looks far better than stock.

Would rather leave it for the next owner but not sure if it might be an issue.

Otherwise I will place the stock entune premium radio back in.

    Regarding the "Capital gains" argument.

Sure, in theory you could pay $31k for a car and sell to Carvana for $35,000.
    So you "made" $4,000.

But you also improved the car by getting oil changes, air fresheners, car wax, car washes, gasoline to keep engine running, etc. Perhaps you can "pro-rate" the tire wear and other consumables.

Depending "when" you purchased your warranty (after the car sale) that added cost to your financing, that cost might be deductible as well.

The capital gains rate is 15% by the way for long-term (held over a year), so even without any improvements used as deductions, we're talking about $600 worst case ona $4,000 gain.

I don't know how the IRS would be able to ever determine the delta however since purchase prices of cars and sales aren't reported on any tax forms when purchased for personal use other than through DMV registration.

And if you ever worked with the government on getting a housing inspection done in a city for housing and then rental certification and tax inspections, you'll soon learn that government agencies are horrible at sharing information.

Disclaimer: I pay my taxes in full and use a CPA who doesn't bend the rules.

The Carvana "for sale" prices appear to be coming down. Now several crew cabs for sale under $30k.

I'm curious what they make on the backend financing. I'm guessing a bit higher rates.

From prices shared and my own quotes, it seems like just price for price they would appear to be losing money on some.

They now have 143 Crew Cabs with under 50,000 miles (3rd Gens).

Got $26k for my 2017, 2wd dc 68k miles sr5 tacoma and buying a 2014 10K miles trd off road 4x4 DC tundra for $33k... good deal? I was gonna wait until next year for the next gun tundra or maybe 2 years for next gen tacoma but I can't find any locals deals that even come close.

Thinking I could ride the tundra for a year or 2 then trade in/sell and not loose much..

The tundra will be solid and lower miles, 4WD, more room, makes sense if you can afford it and dont mind the 13-15 mpg.

You shouldn't be in stock trim. I have a 2020 and getting 18-21 mpg Chicago burb traffic, A/C on blast, also had a 2016, 2017, 2019 with similar MPG, some of those while in AZ like you.

Only thing not stock is the tires (wildpeak 265/75 r16's & a TRD CAI) and there's really no change there from the original tires. Bought it in late April, has about 1200 miles on the clock and the majority is city driving with some light HWY miles. All trips are rather short though. I did see close to 20 mpg after filling up and a 10 mile HWY drive. I do also drive it with the ECT on all the time. Was hoping I'd see a good jump after the 'break-in' but that's not looking very likely at this point. Obviously I do drive with the AC constantly blasted.... Certainly disappointing to this point.

Turn the ECT off. I only ever really needed or used it in my 16 and 17, the 20 drives in standard logic just fine and 100 times better. I have noticed the MPG get better about 3-5k miles in.

Yeah, I actually had one as a rental for 1 month when I got the diff leak recall done, I remember liking it in general and getting that exact mpg lol

The only thing I am worried about is the handling feeling very "vague" compared to the Tacoma. It's been so long that I can't remember.

Even locally, the best I have found is a newer 2018 Tundra but with 50k miles and costs 3k more so I think it's a solid deal.

If the next gen comes around and it's better I should hopefully be able to sell or trade with minimal loss in the worst case scenario I hope, otherwise I would just keep the Taco and wait lol

Carvana just took my truck away, sad day but the right choice for the family. It really was as easy as it could possibly be. They showed up on time, started it, checked the mileage, took 4 pictures, signed the paperwork, and they said here is your check. Didnt say anything about normal parking lot / fire road scratches or the one dent in the hood from an asshat throwing rocks off an overpass. Now I just have to get over my depression of not owning a tacoma any longer.

Just for final info, carvana offered me 30,000, dealership trade in was going to be 27,000. I still owed 10,000 on the truck, so carvana cut my check for 20,000 and is taking care of finalizing the previous loan payoff. If they stay in business, I cant imagine ever selling a car any other way.

2020 Dodge Ram 1500. 5.7 with their E-torque and 3.92 rear axle. Needed something with actual towing capacity and just didn’t feel safe at the upper limit of the taco with 2 kids and wife in the truck.

Nice I was eyeballing a 2020 blacked out rebel the other day, couldn't get them to budge any further from $49k ($57k MSRP).
