If you don’t want to go the 7th route or injector replacement route you only have 2 options.

AEM FI/C which is quite a bit more involved to install and in tuning or water/methanol injection.

The AEM will allow you to retard the timing and add fuel in closed loop. But if you lean out at high rpm you have to either hope that a full injector service will flow enough or install water/meth injection along with the AEM.

The 7th is definitely the most simplistic way of accomplishing all of that. But then again you may not be leaning out at all up high. So you could just use anything that will allow you to retard timing. There are a few options for that.

For me I still feel like the 7th, although very expensive for what it is, is the best route. I’m missing a few features that the AEM has but I didn’t have to get too involved with wiring and mess with resistors etc. and other features that the AEM has aren’t totally necessary to have a solid setup.

I always felt that water/meth injection is more of a bandaid than the other options because if it craps out of you forget to refill the tank you’ll have to drive around any ping you may get.

All that being said I still have a water injection setup I’m slowly working to incorporate into my system so that I can cool the intake charge and add oxygen but I plan to only use it in high RPM when the adiabatic efficiency drops off creating more heat, and creating a greater load to turn the supercharger. But if, for water reason, that takes a dump I’m still completely fine. It was just a power boost that isn’t completely necessary.

@1997tacomav6 has only ever run injection had it’s worked great for him. So you may find that that works just as well for you. But considering you’re probably getting ping in the low RPM high gear area tipping the throttle in and just getting into boost you’ll have to try to spray water/meth starting at 1psi.

personally I don’t find that to be an attractive option at all. But again, it works for some folks perfectly fine.

This is exactly when I get the ping.

Very common. That’s why these calibrators come with timing control.

Yes. The URD 6 injector Kit. The 7th injector, the AEM FI/C

Your at high altitude 8000 feet,
    stock pulley and have ping,

You should have zero ping with the stock setup if your fuel pump is at 100 percent, fuel injectors are cleaned and serviced and fuel filter is new and no carbon issue that said with a healthy engine.

I’d like to buy a period.
I’d recommend finishing your install correctly before you start troubleshooting problems.
I was getting high load, low RPM ping with my 2.2” pulley. I have the 7th injector kit and I just had to go in and add timing retard to get the ping to stop.

Searched for vacuum leaks and found none. Now I have a CEL with a P0107 code. Crap. Why did it work perfectly for 1000 miles then start acting up?

Can be a bunch of things,
    Exhaust leak before 02 sensor,
    Bad 02 sensor,
vacuum leak, maybe do a smoke test, brake booster leaks sometime,
    fuel injectors,
    Fuel pump,
    MAF sensor, dirty or defective,
    Fuel filter,
    Bad PCV valve,
    and so forth,
If you have a scanguage you can get more information to help find your problem Looking at fuel trims

Well this one was easy. The PCV hose is split at the SC end. I guess when I was searching for vac leaks I wiggled that hose to make sure it had a good connection and that must have been enough to split the old, dry hose. Already have new one ordered.

However, Im not convinced that is the ping cause. I suspect fuel pump and/or injectors.

It’s a PITA, but to do it right anyone putting on a new supercharger with an engine over 150k should
have fuel injectors cleaned and serviced, new fuel pump, new fuel filter and then go forward before considering 7th injector, methonal, piggyback etc.
Your fuel system has to be working 100 percent to know if you need to go to the next step.
AGAIN, ANY vacuum leak will cause supercharger problems,
If you have old hoses just replace them all, go to the pasts store and buy
the hoses by the foot and cut them in

This PCV hose seems to have been my problem. It must have been starting to split when I did the SC install. It ran perfect for 800 miles or so then started pining. The split must have been growing. I searched for vac leaks with carb cleaner and wiggled connections. That wiggle must have opend the split on the hose and I got the CEL.

I need to drive some more but I replaced the hose with new and the pinging is all but gone.... (knock on wood). CEL cleared right away. John is right about ANY vacuum leak causing problems.

So plugging up my deck plate mod seem to make my ping nearly go away. I still will send in the injectors, and fix the stupid knock sensor harness soon. its tooooo hot outside :)
