Nice. I bought a generator about 15 years ago and wired my house with an auxiliary switch panel. When power goes out I can run my 220 Well Pump circuit, everything in the kitchen (except the electric rage), the living room, the office (need Internet as long as the cable wasn't knocked out) and the Master Bedroom. I lose power ever couple of years and for long periods of time when there is a hurricane or severe snow.

Just make sure that you run it periodically and treat the fuel. Otherwise you may gum up the carb. Trust me...I know. This last hurricane a couple of weeks ago I had to tear the carb apart and clean the gummed up ethanol. Sea Foam/Deep Creep wouldn't cut it.

I plan on pulling it out pretty frequently and letting it run, and all small engine gas I add one of those ethanol additives since they all sit so long. Fingers crossed I actually remember to do all this. I've never torn apart a carb and I don't want to start.

We don't have natural gas in my neck of the woods. Propane only. Fuckers rape us every time they fill the tank.

Really man, I did just that on the old mower. Don't sweat it given your wrenching experience!

There's not much to these little carbs. But either way it's good to put some Sta-bil or something in it. When you start getting into the bigger engines and their carbs you'll want to throw things.

Who is your provider? I have a 5 year contract with tank rental and a fixed fill up (price per gallon) If I run empty and they dont fill the tank, the fill is free. It aint too bad, but we only use propane for our back up heat.

That's what I'm weighing...$2.49x400gal = $996. Tack on hazardous fee and your over a grand for 7-15 days of power depending on what load you run.
Granted we only use LP for tankless h2o heater and cooking range...Now I really want to be able to run AC with all these tree falls that've been becoming frequent these past two summers, especially with the kid.

My portable works for the well pump, all lights and ceiling fans, half the kitchen, fridge and garage freezer. Winter's we've got and typically are running the woodstove.
Who is your provider? I'm looking at buying a 500 gal underground tank and put it in myself (with my plumber buddy) Currently, I've got 120gal through now Quarles originally Revere, but again only using it for hot water and range.

Amerigas. They suck. But we're stuck because of the tank rental. We can buy it from them, but they want way too much for it. Last time they quoted us, I looked online to see what a new tank would cost and they were a $1k more. Our propane is for hot water, heat, and gas fireplace. We can typically stretch a 1000 gal tank a year. Around here Holzman seems to be the provider to stick with.

I'd have to ask my wife for sure, but I don't think we've had an outage since we got the generator. I want to say that when it was sold to us, the dude said we could make it a week on the generator with smart usage.

    Call Elite Propane
    https://elitepowerandenergycorp.com/propane/

I was calling around to buy a tank so I could shop around for propane every fill. He said he would happily sell me a tank, or just give me one with a fill contract. When Amerigas bought what was left of their propane back from me at their outrageous prices, it pretty much paid for the new fill. I ran out a few times with Amerigas. Elite has a monitoring system on their tanks that tells them when I need a fill. So it gets filled as needed instead of some BS schedule. Elites prices are 1/3 what Amerigas charged.
