It’s certainly an indicator of potential upside. Anything yielding 7 or 8 that usually yields 5 just means if it returns near its 5% yield without cuts, there is significant opportunity for cap gains

You’re just waiting for a reversion to the mean. When it’s up, and back at its average yield, it’s fairly valued and time to sell.

You could, I’d rather just like knowing my original shares are yielding terrific dividend returns

On CNBC right now: 188 ETFs have been shut down this year. What exactly happens in that scenario? That's what scares me about them.

They usually go over the counter until the "certificates" expire. In the prospectus they tell you what each share is "worth" and how to claim the $$ from the issuer...This was a big story when a few big etfs shut down last month...
Long story short you get your money...

If they beat I'll be stoked in the AM. If they don't I'll be pissed. If I sell now I rob myself of the anticipation of how my day will go. I'm keeping them. lol

That is one of the things I liked about SPHD, it's very liquid with good volume, so unlikely to be shut down.

I read something about checks going out, but it was going to be a long time, which I thought was borderline criminal, since that money would be tied up in.. nothing? At least for me.

I don’t but I’ve always found those options writing finds interesting. It’s a different way to get paid that’s for sure.

Anyone know the benefit of Dow membership, other than saying you’re in the Dow? Maybe more ETFs have to buy those companies?

Good question. I’m not sure there’s anything beyond just being seen as significant, and therefore possibly safer or better investment? I did see a couple articles the last day or 2 showing there’s no real correlation in being dropped from DOW and performing poorly going forward, and examples of dropped companies that outperform the DOW going forward. But beyond a status thing, I’m not sure what the benefits would be
