Helping out a coworker. Truck is a 09 DCSB with the stock JBL system and has the factory back up camera displayed on the rear view mirror. If he upgrades to an aftermarket head unit is there a wiring adapter that will display the back up camera on the aftermarket head unit instead of the rear view mirror?

    Thanks in advance.

I still can’t figure out why people relocate the camera feed to their stereos from the mirror. In the mirror is a great place because it keeps your eyes up where they should be, instead of down in the dash.

2009 Tacoma doesn’t have a camera feed behind the stereo. He would have to retrieve the video signal from a kick panel connector. Yes, it can be done but also, I think, the camera is 6VDC not 12, so it’s more complicated than just rerouting some voltage and video signals.

Also keep in mind you said stock JBL system, which is a whole other animal for stereo replacement, he’ll need to get a smart harness made specially for that, it’s not a generic swap out because the JBL system has a remote amplifier.

Definitely don’t get suckered into a “couple hour” stereo install for a few beers on this one. It ain’t gonna play out like that.

Also let’s not forget that the 2nd gen camera quality looks like it is shot on the first laptop webcam. And then when you blow it up from a 2” screen to a 7” screen, it looks truly horrific

Man that’s clearer than most people windshields or back windows. Which model kenwood and what do you like and dislike about it? I’m picking up a 2010 this weekend. Have you don’t a plug n play remote start or any other mods?

i love the radio. i replaced the factory one the truck came with with a entune out a 2014 back a few years ago and looking back i wish i never did as it sounded like shit. So glad i sold it and got the Kenwood.
The model is Dmx907S. It has wireless apple car play and android auto and the car play works amazing. It was expensive but 100% worth it. The only thing that doesn’t seem to want to work is the screen mirroring. I’m told apple doesn’t support wireless mirroring but even the wired doesn’t work. Not sure about that but it doesn’t matter
I have a .12voltsolutions remote start which i installed my self last year and it’s amazing. Highly recommend that remote start.

Thanks for the info. I’ve been following the thread on the 12volts but no one would confirm it worked on the 2010 and it’s not listed on there site. My truck will have the immobilizer, does yours have it? That may be the difference.

It’s due to having a chip in the key used to start the truck. If you don’t have a programmed key, it won’t start so the truck is immobile
