Anybody else see the new wedge camper and RTT made by Super Pacific? I heard about it because they are local to me in the Portland, OR area. I am in no way shape or form affiliated with them just thought I'd share another option in the wedge game. They are doing a limited viewing (due to COVID) at the Rigs & Coffee even on July 11 at Wanderlust Overland but you'll need to RSVP. There is more info on the camper and RTT on their website www.superpacificusa.com.

Editable list of TW member orders. You can add yours to the list if you'd like. (Thanks @nudavinci64 ):

Tent looks nice. Lack of doors, windows is fixable.

Interesting- but from these renderings, it looks like you would have to unzip the mesh to close the window covering or do it from the outside.

Giant ass full length & height doors sound great until they don't seal anymore for a variety of reasons and start leaking.

I’m not sure they’re actually out yet . Saw them last month pull into the Rigs and Coffee event just as i was about to leave . They only had the frame on and they started assembling the rest of it right in front of everybody. From what I can tell it looked pretty sweet

I’m on their list, took the plunge and slapped a payment down.

I originally had a Flippac, then a GFC, and now I’m looking forward to the Super Pacific

It’s complicated but essentially yes, I did not like the GFC enough to keep it. There are comparisons to the Super Pacific prototypes that I could make based off the photos, but it wouldn’t be accurate.

I was told possible October, I think I am slightly behind the first 20 order curve.

I was a fan for sure at first, and the concept was still great until I sold it, but I was the very first unit to have the hinge failure. And multiples after that. The concept of being a customer R&D guinea pig was unsettling after a couple years. Hinge redesign was far too late for me, and I hated that I was without my GFC for 4 months, and it came back with more problems than when it left.

To stay on topic, the Super Pacific has far more promise in my eyes. The built in wire chase, track system compatible with readily available products already on the market, smart tent design using a Keder rail, and the Exped Megamat are all components that are more thought out than the GFC. The price is similar and reasonable IMO and side access without compromising waterproofing is a major plus for me.

On the website the description/features don’t mention bed access, either with or without the shell, but there are two pictures that show this. Does anyone know if it’s an option or standard?

If by bed access, you mean accessing the bed (camper) from the bed (truck), it is standard to have the removable panels. I think they said three total, one large panel and two small panels to close up the gap you see in the picture you posted

Right, bed and bed. I did mean from the bed of the truck into the tent from the bottom to then use the bed while over the bed.

second question, and I did look at the website, does anyone know if the rear swing up door/window opens from the inside?

    thanks

I hadn’t heard/seen/asked about that. I know a lot of people wanted that feature from the GFC, but I never really cared about not having the ability to lock it closed in either my Flippac or GFC.

I usually ended up climbing in from the outside anyway, bumper to 3rd gen tailgate step to the bed.

I am considering jumping in on one of these. One thing i want is side access. ideally i really want an updated flippac But AT wont make one that flips in the front. I will probably go wedge In the end.
