Nice Chris I'm never buying Fram filters again. And to think that's all I have bought for all my cars.

 

Havent used a fram filter in quite some time. Napa Gold (Wix) in everything I own. Read about the Fram lawsuits, recalls, and burnt motors years ago and decided enough was enough.

Nothing new here...just more Fram hate with nothing intelligent to add to the discussion.

Just for once can someone even make mention of some filter spec's? Like flow rate...particulate efficiency...and some hard data on failure RATE and not just old hearsay stories and pic's that demonstrate nothing more intelligent than someone knows how to use a digital camera and a can-opener?

And enough with the horror stories...they're all over the trade rags about ALL the filters...Wix has their share if anyone wished to go look for 'em. Of course Fram has them DUH...Fram's one of if not the biggest name brand seller in the US so yes they WILL have more!

If you don't like Fram then don't buy it...and shut up fer chrissake.

I'd say the clearly discolored and flimsy cardboard on an unused filter is more than enuf for me to steer clear of them...And you would only know that if you have the intelligence to use a can opener...

 

When the carboard endplates lay over, bypasses and drops the oil pressure to nill, and it wastes your motor, you will think differently.

 

Chris, dont forget Royal Purple has a filter out now too...

Chris you need to do a vid on bosch, trd, shitty stp filters, mobil juan possibly k&n. We carry those here at my werk (vatozone) and my customers always ask for agood filter, usually sell them bosch or k&n or mobil, but then they want cheap oil, peak, pennzoil quaker :/

But yet you bothered to post?? You just wanted to have your little rant cause you are upset that Chris said the Fram is garbage (which a lot of folks agree with). At least he brought some sort of thought to the process instead of your insults and orders.

Again I say- If you don't like his opinions-Use Fram, be happy about it, and live life. But don't try to color his research as

because you don't like it.

 

No Royal Purple anything here, they were busted for false claims on there oil protection level,,so if they are skimping on the oil rating, whos to say they waved there magic wand and decided they have the best of whatever.

Royal Purple is a Fram wannabe. JMO.


My buddy had a Fram Racing filter on 632 all alum BBC that was making 2000 dyno hp on two kits of nitrous. Using a dedicated filter seal trap (to hold the seal in place better). it still spit the seal out and shot 50 wt oil all over the dyno room. This happened twice with Fram racing (there supposedly better filter), filters went into the trash and replaced with a Napa Gold (Wix) filter. Been using the Napa golds ever since without fail, and this is a 6 second $35K Outlaw 10.5 racing motor.

 

I've been using the Toyota filter since I got my truck. I have not found a reason to stop. Thanks for the video Chris!

 

Yikes, not trying to thread jack, but is pennzoil really considered a cheap oil? Thats what I have always used with no issues. I'm not afraid of change if I have to. Should I not use that oil?

 

Well Price, definitely, but one of the guys that works at my store used to work at pepboys, and has told me that its cheap. I always believed synthetic was superior, and asked me, why dis pennzoil keep changing their oil? Not only that, but I also read some hypocracy on the pennzoil box saying something about cleaning out your slide like 40% but ut says something else on the bottle. Its just a matter of preference, quaker and pennzoil i believe are like fram, just media talk. If it works for you do it. Personally, I go to wally werld, get me the castrol or mobile 1 oil, then get the toyota oem filter, it usually world iut to be the same if not cheaper. To each their own.
