Opinions on sliders.

Looking into getting some for Christmas. I want to hear from the people that have different brands. Welded on, bolt on, kick out VS non. Just want an idea of ones that are good quality for a good price. I will be using them as actual sliders not just as a step so any info on the different brands will be much appreciated. I feel that the bolt ons would be much easier for me but will they work for offroading?

 

Been researching this myself. So far my favorites are the Allpro with the kickouts. Historically they've gone on sale in December for the holidays so I'm sitting tight.

Everyone's going to tell you Weld-on is the only route worth anything, but I'm still reluctant about going that route myself.

Yeah I just dont know but I want to be able to hilift off of them so if that means trying to find someone to weld them on so be it but I would rather not.

 

i've got the demello offroad basic weld-ons and i love 'em. haven't abused them much at all, but i have no doubts about their performance off-road. they're pretty solid. if i was going to do some serious rock-crawling, it'd probably be a good idea to step up to their square-tube sliders, but for general off-road use, i feel these are more than adequate! they look great too...

 

It is the hands-down-very-best mod you can do if you off-road. My stock 4x4 taco with sliders can go almost anywhere. I ordered from Richard Stubbs. got the HD-SKO. I love them!

 

Don't overlook RenlentlessFab, another TW vendor. Eric's building some sliders right now.

So far he only does weld on's.

 

i think im getting some avid sliders this christmas. heard some good things about them

they are gonna be bolt on and with a kick out

 

Kick outs have saved me a couple times. Including when my cousin got a little close to the garage door frame.

I prefer weld on myself. Just make sure you get them done by a reputable shop...

 

mjp2 - you painted yours *after* you installed them? How did that work out?

 

I have the bolt on Demello sliders.They work great, fit good and I can use the hi-lift on any spot. They take a while to build but worth it.

 

I have looked at all the TW vendors I am leaning towards bolt ons just because of the ease and no extra cost. Im pretty much going to be changing a lot on my truck in JAN lift, rims, sliders and some other things so Im looking at the most cost effective way to do it. I feel Im leaning towards avid just because of the price and the option of bolt on.

 

Those bolt-on avid "sliders" are not actual sliders they are just steps.

I'm getting the CBI bolt-ons. And they are ON SALE!!!!

 

I've been looking too and trying to decide between Relentlessfab and Avid offroad. You should weld them on if your gonna use it for anything more than a step.

 

I mean I have been using my stock tube steps up until now they are bolt on and have takin a beating with me. Ask the Colorado guys who went on the trail run about my Mad Irish dent. There were two of us to take this line and I made it but not before sliding off and sitting on the nerf bar crushing it but not moving the bolts.

 

I want to get a set of sliders as well, and would rather weld them on vs bolt on...thinking allpro or beefed sliders.

When you weld these things on the truck, is there anything besides the battery that you want to disconnect? I dont feel like frying anything in the process!

Unless you mean the ones that bolt to the body then yes you are correct.

x2 as long as there are enough legs spread apart the right distance but this goes for weld on to.
