Well, the last two mornings have been a bit cooler, so I ventured out with the Nox 800 (first time in months I fired it up) to the local park. I really need to learn the machine, so I figured I would swing that coil. I went out for an hour or so and dug solid targets only.

Will, I'm not sure if I shared this YouTube channel with you or not. Mark Gillespie is out of Virginia and the guy really knows his stuff. He has several Nox vid's out and I have found them very helpful. The guy is very straightforward and doesn't beat around the bush. Have a look when you have time.

Drove out to Yuma today after picking up my new detector-a used GPX 5000. I stopped by Cargo Muchacho Mountains on the way home where there’s supposedly a little bit of gold to test it out, but didn’t get anything but this lousy picture of trusty Mulita. It was 106°, and with an approaching storm the humidity was over 50%, so I only detected for half an hour and left.

Humid weather survival note to myself: How to turn gasoline into pure drinking water:

run AC on full, place jug under your truck where the AC evaporator drainage line drips. There were gallons of pure water pouring out of it today.

It’s actually pure water. There might be a funky taste to it first but there was enough of it pouring out that it probably rinsed off the fins of the evaporator.

Dear mouse or dead me. Hmmm... :notsure:

It is funny though, I heard water leaking and it freaked me out since I was so far back off the road. I do carry enough to refill it, and have a pretty good parts repair kit, but it was still unnerving.
(I do also carry a couple radios and have a satellite beacon for emergencies.)

@OnHartung'sRoad How does the 5000 look? You are brave going out in 106 temp's to detect. Or loony!

The middle quarter is from the America the Beautiful series and is a contribution from Louisiana.
