It would be a better comparison if Bill Nye were trying to sell a product but offering no direct proof of how well that product works. I notice you did the same thing in the Supercharger thread; people started asking for Dyno numbers and you start posting pictures of an electric fan you’re working on....

 

both but its a give and take. best option large puller. adding a push will help down low but hurt at speed due to the dead zone

I get that, but if I were selling a product which adds HP I would back it up with Dyno numbers, even if that meant making two trips out of state (one before the install and one after). Everything else just seems like conjecture.

i means that you can choose what temperature the fan starts at. and ramps up to 100% at. so you can have it start at 180 degrees at 40% speed. and it will linear ramp up to 100% by 200 is that is where you set is. thermal stabilization can happen anywhere in between setting the fan at a tempature below the thermostat rating is not a great idea fan will run but the water isnt.

 

The Tacomas spec’d for sale in Mexico have a pusher fan in front of the AC. It’s not for engine cooler but rather to help the anemic AC performance at idle and stopngo

A TSB is free. It’s designed for trucks that are still under warranty. Sure, you can ask the dealer to have it done outside of warranty and they’ll probably be happy to charge you but c’mon who does that

 

I am interested in this as well. I am curious once the prototype is up and running what the drivabilty improvements are (mpg, power,etc). I would assume it would help quite a bit. In the winter the I can hear the fan running on cold starts which obviously reduces power and likely makes the engine take longer to warm up. Plus It would be nice to remove some moving parts up there. Now we just need an electric AC compressor....

Now I have a question for my own curiosity. Why is the fan clutch active when it is cold out (less than 10F) on cold starts?

 

In certain low speed (and possibly high speed?) situations the ECU will limit Torque, even with pedal to the floor, because Toyota??? Who knows why, but I think that's what @tonered is referencing

Yup. The ECU calculates a target torque output. You get what it wants you to get. Even the tunes have a limit that can't be defeated (yet).

 

That, and the fan clutch needs to warm up a bit. It drops off pretty quickly.
