We grew up with some Seadoo XPs, which were the fastest ones back in the day. About 90hp. Jet ski motors have almost 300 hp nowadays!

Yea but their top speeds are capped for safety reasons, that top in hp number is just a gimmick because you cant use all of it. I looked into buying one of the Sea Doo RXT-X a couple of years ago. Did a lot of research on them. Basically the hp that you utilizes is the 0-60 and thats about it.

    Thats from an article

You probably noticed that the top speeds of the 260 and the 300 are very close to each other. This is due to the machines being limited to 70mph top speed for the United States. So what they do is make the take off speed faster on the 300. So the 300HP will get to 70 faster than the 260Hp.

If we didn’t have these caps the 260 would do more closer to 75mph and the 300mph would closer to 80mph, but this is merely my guess since I’m in the US and can’t get pass 70mph.

This is due to safety and it’s better to have the cap. Trust me, 40mph is fast on water! 70mph is just insane for a new rider. New riders need to stick to the 155hp and below machines as they’re fast enough.

Oh I know, I grew up on the Coosa river with jet skis, pontoons, flat bottoms, etc. Speed always feels faster on the water.

Over 300 hp actually. 315 stock is highest I know of at the moment. Top speed governed to 67-68 mph though which can easily be changed.

TBH i dont think going 100mph on the water is smart or safe. But would give you a huge rush.
