Well after Fedex lost my Enfield in their distribution center for 5 days, and 4 phonecalls later, I picked it up today. Extremely happy with it, action is smooth and the bore is sharp, not to mention a 2 stage trigger thats every bit as good as my Garand's (Which is excellent). I was surprised to see the Brits used a rear sight with 1 moa elevation adjustments, nice surprise there. Hoping to find some .303 ammo locally before Saturday so I can stretch it out to 500 yards.

If you need some good smithing on some of the older stuff there is a guy in Mebane that's pretty good.

Is it the pike style or sword style? The No. 4 rifles like mine use a short pike style bayonet. The WW1 guns used a 17" long sword style.

Yeah I think it is. My buddy introduced me to him forgot his name. But we got to talking about the old stuff as he had a sweet arisaka hanging on the wall. He took me into the back room and showed me the 2 mg42s he was getting running again.

Yeah it wont fit on the WW2 guns then. Id sell it online if you dont want it. If its in good shape those sword bayonets can fetch some serious coin.

I actually dont usually bother getting the bayonets for my milsurps, unless their dirt cheap. Its one of those things that I look at once and throw in the closet. They can affect accuracy too much for me to shoot the rifle with it on.

Nice. A guy I shoot with rebuilt a 42 from a torched up parts kit. Made it semi auto too. Surprisingly still a good amount of recoil even out of a 25 lb gun. But not as bad as my K98.

Cool I have an old Czech Mauser. That's awesome your buddy did that. These 42s he said were being left full auto.

Man Id love to try one out in full auto.

Id still take an MG34 over a 42 any day of the week. They are just more appealing to my eye.
