You nailed it. I was in the middle of a zoom meeting and I look down to see a message saying he was hit, immediately followed by a call. I drove calmly, respectfully and in accordance with all laws to childrens.

Damn dude. Glad he is okay and glad they found the SOB who hit him. I don't know what kind of human hits a child on a bicycle and doesnt stop, but it's not the good kind.

I used to find people for a living. Understanding that cops don't have the time to canvas a neighborhood, I did that for 7 hours the next day, I stopped everyone to discuss what had happened. I had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for. In the end, publicly available information and social media led me to a hunch. I followed that hunch, and sure as hell, there was the car. Tire marks and damage present. Called the cops and waited. I never even saw him as I went to wait from a vantage point far enough away.

He told my boy to move his bike and him being just a kid, he did exactly that, broken arm and all. Soon as the bike was clear out of the way, he took off.

    Finally a decent suggestion!

Its not. Ya'll successfully talked me out of doing anything or worrying about it too much further. I'm gonna replace the passenger wheel cylinder and shoes on both sides this weekend. Then we wait to see what breaks next.

Agreed. I will say that being able to tell my son that I found him was one of the best moments I've had as a dad and really cheered him up. He can't ride his bike for a while so he is hating life.

:rofl:This is exactly what came to mind for me too.

That almost made me tear up. Almost...

Let's just hope you and he (and all of us with our pitchforks, for that matter) can be satisfied with the outcome. I'm sure he has an attorney with a moral code that aligns with his, unfortunately.

Good to here the boy isn't afraid to get back on and do what he loves. I am not a father but I have come to appreciate that kids are amazingly resilient. A close friend of mine's son was hit by a car riding his bike earlier this year and it devastated him also. A few days after he sent me a picture of his son in his hospital bed, arm in a sling holding the most enthusiastic thumbs up you've ever seen, with road rash on his forehead, and the biggest damn smile on his face. Like, did anyone tell this kid he was just hit by a damn car?
